- "I started on the sales floor with Tourneau and have been given opportunities to steadily move forward in my career in the industry." (in 4 reviews)
- "Management and comany can do much better training and educating employees, but they are too cheap to do that, not only from my point of view but majority of Tourneau employees at large." (in 4 reviews)
- "If you had better management, your store could be different... be sure to meet your managers prior to being hired and be sure that you get along." (in 7 reviews)
- "One department doesn't know what the other department is doing, awful entitled customers, awful managers promoted for sales not for people skills, terrible hours if you work in a mall, did not train me at all! Highly nuanced and detailed job, must know a LOT in a short amount of time to properly assess watch repairs or servicing." (in 6 reviews)

Great until new, bipolar director hired.

Sales staff and assistant director, great. Good money to be made.

Tourneau is not a company where you want to grow.
Nov 18, 2008 - Sales Associate in Arlington, VARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You get knowledge of watches, The training is helpfull for starters in the jewelry or watch industry. You get to attend manufacturers training sometimes; you may be provided with the latest trends reading the trade magazines that are usually handout to guests. Management and comany can do much better training and educating employees, but they are too cheap to do that, not only from my point of view but majority of Tourneau employees at large. Tourneau takes the manufacturer inscentives reserved to sales professionals 'in order to advertise more efficently' on the cost of employees, and thats a shame. Think twice and listen to the commission structure before you commit...
Cons
Compensation is commission based, so when economy is week, or theres no sales, sales people suffer immensly
Continue readingI am sorry you felt that your experience at Tourneau was terrible. Unfortunately, HR has not had the pleasure of visiting the South Coast Plaza store; we have an amazing store manager and team at this location, which we are all very proud and supportive of. We have no brands that have excited this location and the average employee tenure in this store is seven years. We strive to hire the best and do not discriminate against people who are interested in working for Tourneau because they do not have timepiece specific background. We are an equal opportunity employer for all. In addition, the team (or minions!) who work with the CEO, have an average tenure of 6.5 years . We would like to wish you best of luck in all your future endeavors.

Worst place I've ever worked
Oct 9, 2017 - Sales Professional in Huntington, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I'm great at sales so I always made the maximum amount of money I could at tourneau Chance to meet customers who are educated and successful (unfortunately most don't buy from tourneau because they are over priced)
Cons
Uneducated management going all the way to VP of stores. Virtually no HR department: and not sure if the 'HR' employees have any actual human resource training. Management will not work with your schedule outside of work: it's called work life balance. Poor commission structure compares to other luxury companies. Poor customer retention: tourneau does nothing to be competitive with other watch retailers. Management hoards desirable pieces for their clients without allowing sales professionals to make the sales.

Pros
Learn about watches, watch industry, face to face sales
Cons
not much upward mobility, pay isn't great, poor commission structure

Unhealthy work environment

- meet great people interest in high end timepieces - stepping stone in the industry & luxury sales career - vendor relationships - finance options for customers
Cons
- poor commission structure ( only make 2% commission on most desirable products) and if discounted which is rare you only get about 15% of the commission you would have received if it was full price! - other watch retailers in the area offer better prices on the same product by 10-25% less! - lack of managerial integrity all around and up to corporate level management - blame game: it's everyone else's fault - poor HR department: reach out with problems occurring in the store and they will silence you by letting you know you can and will be fired
