I worked at Tower International full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Good people to work with

    Cons

Lean six sigma cost savings projects often result in letting go employee's in many departments as an easy project initiative, leaving many departments short staffed. Letting go of the employee's is not due to a recent process improvement project that became more efficient, but because corporate pushes the continuous improvement so much that most plants annual savings goal is unrealistic and often times has to make up for other plants short comings.. So the plants starts cutting heads in both indirect and direct departments to show annual savings for "PD", so they don't get shamed by their corporate directors. Resulting in bad employee moral. This shows the employee's that the numbers are more important than the employee's, even though Tower claims their culture is the other way around.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Tower International full-time

    Pros

The leadership team really cares about people, Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement. Two people in management worked their way up from "line" positions. VP (retired) started as Press Operator. Working hard minimize overtime and allow people work-life balance. People in operations have an awesome attitude and enjoy working together. Plant is super clean and air conditioned. Plant manager meets with everyone frequently. (plant wide meetings, 1-1, and with teams.) Already expanding plant - new press installed soon.

    Cons

It is a start-up facility which means there is still a lot of work to do. Customer has high expectations and works 7 days a week. (Plant trying to keep a 5 day work week, loading trucks has to be 6 days.) If you aren't flexible and like change, it might be difficult for you.

    Advice to Management

Keep improving things and involving employees.
