I have been working at Town of Castle Rock part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you are working the Aquatics Department:
    -You choose your own hours.
-Excellent first job that has many gateways to other positions in the town.
-Benefits and discounted admittance to public events.
-Managers and Head Guards are very easy to talk with as well as upper management.

    Cons

    Aquatics:
-Winter Schedule for guarding can be a conundrum due to most lifeguards being in school. This is a good opportunity for part-time students to grab more shifts
-At one point or another (Well, multiple points), you will have to deal with the most obnoxious and self entitled patrons imaginable, and you must treat them with upmost respect because you represent the Town of Castle Rock.

I have been working at Town of Castle Rock part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Responsibility, First Aid, Bio-Hazard, and Communication are all things learned and taught here.

    Cons

Sometimes communicating ideas with upper management can be a challenge.

    Advice to Management

Please work a little more with your employees.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Town of Castle Rock full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If all you want is mediocre performance and paycheck this is the place for you. This is an excellent example of the bureaucratic government laziness that most people joke about.

    Cons

The lack of leadership and inability to accept and make needed changes make this a frustrating place of work if you take pride in your job and have the desire to make effective and efficient improvements.

    Advice to Management

The advice I have is to make the needed changes and follow thru with them. Culture change is difficult but that is what is needed to make the Town of Castle Rock a place that will attract the talent and knowledge that is required to take it further.

    Pros

Small organization makes for efficient and responsive workforce.

    Cons

Emphasis on at-will employer, in training reminded all the time of that fact. Employee review system based on a system where "Superior " rarely achieved. Politics are a strong influence within the organization.

    Advice to Management

Allow for employee dialogue on political issues without fear of retribution. Politics, especially those that influence the workplace, affect workplace environment.

I have been working at Town of Castle Rock part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You do get free assess to the rec center. They will give you some discounts on all of the classes held by the center.

    Cons

They don't care about you as a worker no matter who long you are there. They really don't train the new people and they are always under staffed.

    Advice to Management

Treat your more older staff like you care about them and don't jip them on pay and raises its mean.

    Pros

Great leadership team, progressive, fun, and they really put an emphasis on hiring great people.

    Cons

Since they are a government, the pay is not great but it is competitive with other local governments.

I worked at Town of Castle Rock full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great place of employment. Excellent salary and benefits.

    Cons

Would like to see the cost of health care go down, but it is the norm in the metro area.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect and relize that they are not all "Fully Competent" employees.
