I worked at Toyota North America as a contractor

    Pros

    none, none, none, none, none

    Cons

management is horrible! talk about you behind your back when you are not in the office, throw you under the bus to save their behinds! if you ask for help you get talked down to and degraded for it. no training. one of the worst jobs i've ever had

    Advice to Management

hire and promote people who actually know how to manage and not people who talk about their employees behind their backs. and actually listen to you when you have some ideas

I worked at Toyota North America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Given real responsibilities to lead projects and meet deadlines
    - Given a mentor / manager to help train you
    - Established co-op program, so there are activities and plenty other co-ops

    Cons

Though it's a good learning environment for an intern, I am happy I did not stay there long-term.

    - Can be very bureaucratic
    - Toyota North America reports to Toyota HQ in Japan, who makes decisions without much flexibility
    - Difficult or catty co-workers can make for high stress / un-enjoyable work day

I have been working at Toyota North America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Trying to improve work conditions and become more flexible with work hours and schedule. The effort is being applied currently.

    Cons

Japanese style of work is long hours and hard work. The pay is average for the amount of expected output.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the amount of only Japanese controlled employees in America

I have been working at Toyota North America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company has a bold vision for future mobility and the financial resources to realize it.

    Cons

Company is an overseas affiliate to a headquarters in Japan. Decisions are made in Japan, so US role is market sensing and reporting to Japan. TV meetings during US dinner hour are regular requirement that can make work-life balance challenging.

I have been working at Toyota North America full-time

    Pros

Awesome medical benefits, company lease car, holiday pay

    Cons

Poor work-life balance, slow communication with Japan, long hours, lack of upward or cross-functional mobility, no alternative work option for engineering groups

    Advice to Management

Hoshin (company objective) item to attract and retain top talent is only halfway working. Attracting new TM is easy but the company needs to give TM more support in order to retain them. Work life balance is poor because of the way the company is organized, it's highly ineffective. We are a company full of benchmarking, but more benchmark needs to be done to retain employees. Too much work is given to one TM, and it's unrealistic to think it can be completed effectively without sacrificing efficiency.

    Pros

Great Japanese Culture that gives you a new outlook on business.

    Cons

As an intern there is a lot to learn and very little time, so it is great to do multiple co-ops if you get the opportunity.

    Pros

Pretty much they have been doing a good job for the company. Toyota has always been good with their employees as they value everyone and ensure that they just don't work but also are having fun.

    Cons

I cannot think of any cons as of the moment.

I have been working at Toyota North America (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company provides the environment for acquiring the knowledge, skills and experience for achieving corporate goals and objectives.

    Cons

The human resource planning does not provide opportunities for career growth leading to stagnation in the career paths and truncation of dreamed retirement heights.

    Advice to Management

Review the human resource structure and purge it of sentiments.
