I worked at Toyota North America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Job security, good benefits, competitive compensation, 9/80 work week, mgmt supportive of career development/training opportunities

    Cons

Slow to get promoted/ lack of advancement opportunities, office politics, siloed groups still exist, management transparency improving but still a lot of room for improvement in this area
The corporate culture is too consensus-centric that sometimes impedes the decision making process.

    Advice to Management

More managers should learn to walk the talk; create more & faster advancement opportunities to move up the corporate ladder; too much effort on consensus building can stymie company progress

I worked at Toyota North America as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Company is good, Process Oriented, Respect for work and talent, Pays decently, Good HR, All are treated equally

    Cons

Against Toyota's ethics and reputation for ultimate professionalism, some of the management at TFS has become toxic. Example, Letting a contractor go based on reasons like non-performance, budget, completion of project is normal and understood in contract world. But purely for politics, vested interests and filling with their friends is pathetic.

    Advice to Management

Better for Toyota brand if TFS higher management/HR does some deeper investigation to find out what's really going on (hint: Integration Team) and save reputation of Toyota Brand.
