I worked at Toys "R" Us part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Co workers are always fun to work with. You also get to work with kids.

    Cons

Hours and pay aren't that good. Managers show favoritism. Not much room to advance in the company. Difficult customers sometimes.

    Advice to Management

    More pay

It was easy to get a seasonal job here.

    Cons

Customers are the worst around the holidays, especially when they are shopping for toys that their kids want for christmas.

I worked at Toys "R" Us full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Fast paced environment
Unlimited hours during the holiday season
It's a toy store with a lot of cool products
    Great second job

    Cons

Poor raises of 15¢ or less
No one's job is clearly defined and you end up doing far more then what is expected from you with little pay
    Doesn't care about it's employees

    Advice to Management

Hire people who care about the company. Actually pay attention to the engagement surveys you give out every year and follow up on employee complaints. Far too often are employees not heard and allowed to be toyed with by in store management

I worked at Toys "R" Us part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice people, easy job, the cash register is very basic and easy to learn

    Cons

The staff was nice, but management could have been better. The schedules came out super late, and by weekly so it was hard to plan around your schedule. I was scheduled every weekend, the closing shift so that was a bummer. It's not a bad job, it is good if you can't find anything else. The customers aren't always pleasant, despite it being a kids store. You will be forced to push on people to sign up for credit cards, this is how they decide if they want to keep you around. Metrics is everything to them.

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing so much on metrics

I worked at Toys "R" Us full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The team I worked with was the best part. You also sometimes get the real opportunity to bring joy to a child's life. The company prefers to internally promote, but unless you're in a store with a high turn over rate--which isn't good--there isn't much room for growth. Part-timers get some benefits.

    Cons

I worked for the company for 10 years in a myriad of positions and I left the company only making 11.69. Needless to say, the pay is not competitive. Most of the jobs offered at Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us are part-time. They're always cutting hours for part-timers too so it's hard for anyone to make a living from working there. However, if you are looking for some extra holiday money and a 10% employee discount then a seasonal job would be a good option. It's hard work. As a human resources supervisor you're still expected to run the customer service desk, help out on the floor, money count in the cash office, and be the manager on duty.

    Advice to Management

There's nothing that I could say to management that would solve the issues i'm raising. It's corporate who needs to step up their game.

    Pros

When you have a hard working crew you will get off on time.

    Cons

If you have a lazy crew you will never get off on time.

    Pros

    Cons

Rude customers, horrible management, Christmas season

    Advice to Management

Management should learn better techniques to help not only satisfy their employees, but their customers

I have been working at Toys "R" Us part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers have a great attitude and helping the kids is so much fun.

    Cons

The point of sale system on the registers is terrible and understaffing is a common issue outside of the holiday season.

    Advice to Management

Please, staff more employees. 99% of complaints are about not being able to get the help they need due to the sheer lack of staff members available.
