I worked at Toys "R" Us part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Chill environment, fun co-workers, no customers

    Cons

higher-ups were sometimes rude, expected more than what was capable at times,

    Advice to Management

Schedule the correct amount of workers for days there are 1800+ piece trucks.

I worked at Toys "R" Us part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice people, easy job, the cash register is very basic and easy to learn

    Cons

The staff was nice, but management could have been better. The schedules came out super late, and by weekly so it was hard to plan around your schedule. I was scheduled every weekend, the closing shift so that was a bummer. It's not a bad job, it is good if you can't find anything else. The customers aren't always pleasant, despite it being a kids store. You will be forced to push on people to sign up for credit cards, this is how they decide if they want to keep you around. Metrics is everything to them.

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing so much on metrics

I worked at Toys "R" Us full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The team I worked with was the best part. You also sometimes get the real opportunity to bring joy to a child's life. The company prefers to internally promote, but unless you're in a store with a high turn over rate--which isn't good--there isn't much room for growth. Part-timers get some benefits.

    Cons

I worked for the company for 10 years in a myriad of positions and I left the company only making 11.69. Needless to say, the pay is not competitive. Most of the jobs offered at Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us are part-time. They're always cutting hours for part-timers too so it's hard for anyone to make a living from working there. However, if you are looking for some extra holiday money and a 10% employee discount then a seasonal job would be a good option. It's hard work. As a human resources supervisor you're still expected to run the customer service desk, help out on the floor, money count in the cash office, and be the manager on duty.

    Advice to Management

There's nothing that I could say to management that would solve the issues i'm raising. It's corporate who needs to step up their game.

I have been working at Toys "R" Us part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers have a great attitude and helping the kids is so much fun.

    Cons

The point of sale system on the registers is terrible and understaffing is a common issue outside of the holiday season.

    Advice to Management

Please, staff more employees. 99% of complaints are about not being able to get the help they need due to the sheer lack of staff members available.

I worked at Toys "R" Us full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun place to work if the enviornment were less hostile.

    Cons

They lack sensitivity, do not motivate their staff, and create a hostile work environment with their idle threats, lack of respect, sensitivity and insight to the culture and needs of their staff.

    Advice to Management

Management need to really be managers and trained properly. If this store is going to be a success I urge you to hire more staff, create realistic goals and most importantly train and educate your leadership team.

I worked at Toys "R" Us (Less than a year)

    Pros

Feels like high school without the homework. The other employees were really nice and sociable and you even got to play the video games if you worked in electronics. Management was always helpful.

    Cons

Not very good pay if you have a lot of bills and you won't get many hours if it's not holiday season.

    Advice to Management

Keep being helpful and encouraging to the employees. It definitely helped keep morale up during those crazy holidays. Great job.

    Pros

enjoyed helping customers and kids find what they were looking for.

    Cons

Lack of employers around seasonal time so employees were being over worked. Staff was very unprofessional. Pay is NOTHING compared to how much people worked. for a part time job I shouldn't have been working 40 hours a week. Employee discount is ony 10%...that's tax.

    Advice to Management

Don't be biased against new comers, don't let employers that have been working there for a long time tell YOU what to do and how to do things.
