I have been working at Toys "R" Us part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You get a discount for 10% off toys.

    Cons

When you work here, your job is to sell metrics. Metrics being credit cards, protection plans, loyalty programs, batteries. If you are not able to obtain credit card signups on a regular basis, you will see your hours distributed to other associates. Sometimes you will only get one shift a week because of this. It is expected that there should be 1 credit card signup per 50 customers. This does not seem like a lot, but the bonuses for the card does not outweigh the 26.99 apr rating that you get with it.

    Advice to Management

Do regular observations to make sure your employees are asking for your metrics, and that there is emphasis on details about your CC, protection, and loyalty programs. Employees can sway a person that is on the fence about these programs, but understand that your employees can only do so much before it gets highly annoying.

    Pros

If you like a paycheck over job satisfaction

    Cons

It is beyond poorly managed, it is dysfunctional chaos

    Advice to Management

This is a place for people who like a paycheck over job satisfaction. It is beyond poorly managed, it is dysfunctional chaos. Every attempt to fix the dysfunction, just makes it worse. Take what you have learned as industry standard and expect to do the opposite. The general culture of the environment starts with little to no direction on a project, then over work multiple bad ideas (in a rush state) in order to have 5 levels of management review it at separate times. So you need to rework the project every step of the way. This is to allow the management and project owner to decide what they actually want. Then in the end, get little to no credit. Be ready to be treated as if you have no experience and know nothing.

I worked at Toys "R" Us part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The employees are great and the management is excellent. The discounts aren't all that great but if you have a job there full time the benefits make up for that.

    Cons

Like any retail job you stand for a long amount of time, and there isn't that much to do if you aren't at customer service.

    Advice to Management

You're doing excellent and keep it up.

    Pros

Work environment is fun and highly energetic coworkers make the job a breeze. Team leads are very hands on and helpful. Everyone gets along well.

    Cons

Honestly there are really no cons to working with this company at this location. No cons at all. None at all.

    Pros

    Friendly staff.
Discount was nice, especially being a parent.

    Cons

Christmas season is SUPER hectic. (Not company or management's fault.)
Store hours ridiculously long during Christmas.
Seasonal hires are only offered long-term positions if they get a bunch of people to sign up for the Toys R Us credit cards.

I have been working at Toys "R" Us full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The people you work with level C and down are very nice. Everyone seems to get along, they are all willing to work together to get things done.

    Cons

Upper management needs to GO. It's definitely a boys club, looking out for themselves, keeping their pockets filled while everyone beneath is living paycheck to paycheck. Only those "special" people get promoted, the favored ones. Everyone is trying to get out now. Vendors are even predicting the demise is due to upper management, and are shocked our CEO hasn't taken care of that issue.

    Advice to Management

New Management Needed GMM level & down

I worked at Toys "R" Us part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The work itself is easy and understandable. It's great for a work out.

    Cons

The pay is horrible. 3 years of working there I had may .60 total. The new employees were hired in at the wages as steady employee. They don't have a lot of full time job but you will work full time hours and get cut down one week just so they don't have to pay you benefits. Some of managers are awesome and know what they are talking and some just don't. Always working over your time off. Not enough employees. Major amounts of call outs. High stress if your a person who takes thing personal.

    Advice to Management

Help your employees instead staying in the office. Learn the SOPs instead of just saying what you think try are. No employee should half to work 16 hours in one shift than do that 3 days in a row since your understaffed and some of your manager get to work 8 hours and leave. Your employees aren't the manager so don't make them feel like they half to be one for the wage they are getting.
