I have been working at TraceSecurity full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The company just made 15 years and has a lot of success to celebrate. There is new leadership, the culture is positive and the goals are clear. It's a really exciting time, new products and markets are shaping a new future.

    Cons

In any organization, change is hard. It's also exciting and the company has big opportunity and a fresh energy.

    Advice to Management

    Communication and transparency is key.

I worked at TraceSecurity full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The only company that will hire anyone with no actual information security knowledge.

    Cons

Everything else! 1. They will completely low ball you with pay and raises. 2. They spend too much time worrying about manipulating the accounting software for board meetings. 3. They've had 3 different CEO's in 3 years. 4. They've also had 3 different security directors in 3 years. 5. Middle is a management is a joke. 6. The benefits package isn't that great! 7. They have an extremely high turnover rate....

I worked at TraceSecurity full-time for more than a year

    Pros

People that work here are very friendly

    Cons

On both the sales and analyst sides, the lower level management had clearly never led a team before and it was evident with how they treated their employees

    Advice to Management

Hire leaders who can empathize with their subordinates

I worked at TraceSecurity full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company provided entry level cybersecurity opportunities in an industry in need of people. (i.e. by default TraceSecurity was getting people experience)

    Cons

Lack of vision & expertise in an industry in desperate need to of it.

I have been working at TraceSecurity for less than a year

    Pros

Plenty of travel available if you pretend you are not interested in that kind of thing. Good way to get to know various people throughout the security industry. Good intern positions that at least give you an idea of what the industry is about.

    Cons

If you mention that you enjoy travel, you will be sitting at a desk. The workload/pay combo does not work. If you only work 40 hours, you're unprofessional and if you ask for more money after working more, you're unprofessional. A mentality of "I pay them enough already" is toxic from the head, down.

    Advice to Management

Trace is a company where people call to get products they are required to have. Focus more on the actual product (the analyst) and less on how thinly you can spread them while padding your own wallets. Writing on the wall here points to some sort of buyout/merger preparations.

I worked at TraceSecurity full-time for more than a year

    Pros

To start, TraceSecurity is a small company in a big industry. That being said, my time at TraceSecurity was beneficial for both parties involved. Unlike other companies in the industry that want you to come in with a couple of years experience, TraceSecurity is willing to take those with an IT background (the fundamentals) and take the time to show you the ropes and teach you how to do the work. I was fortunate enough...

    Cons

The only con, which isnt really a bad con, is that once you have some experience under your belt, other companies become interested in you. Of course, hiring you with little to no experience means TraceSecurity can offer a salary commensurate with the level of experience you have when starting. The only thing is in order to retain talent, the company has to be more willing to adjust your compensation levels more than...

I worked at TraceSecurity full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you have limited or no experience in the InfoSec industry then you can get some experience. You can learn about many different aspects of infosec including auditing, pentesting, risk, and social engineering. Like any job you can get some good out of this place if you put in the effort.

    Cons

The services you deliver are complete rubbish. The quality of the reports and templates are mediocre at best. The workload is completely unrealistic. The company is openly okay with being the "dollar store" of infosec in terms of quality. NO PENTEST SHOULD EVER BE 1-8 HOURS...... OSINT should take longer than that let alone the testing itself. NO AUDIT SHOULD EVER BE DONE REMOTE... The pay is WAY below industry standards.......

    Advice to Management

Establish a pay scale, and at least appear to make an effort to keep employees around. Stop trying to show people "appreciation" with silly gimmicks like a point reward system... it's simple people want to be shown appreciation through pay increases

    I worked at TraceSecurity

    Pros

    Good bonuses. Regular pay

    Cons

Like working in a gold fish bowl... Top management not in touch with employees. Upper management makes bad decisions does not follow through. No security at all.

    Advice to Management

Treat those who work hard and make you money very well.

I have been working at TraceSecurity

    Pros

I have had a long career in delivering information technology services and have worked for several Baton Rouge-based companies. When I came to TraceSecurity, I was looking for a place where I could contribute and where I could actually affect positive change. It didn't take long to realize that TraceSecurity was the perfect place for me. Management truly cares about its employees and its customers. Employees are empowered...

    Cons

No company is perfect, but I can honestly say that TraceSecurity has far less cons than any other company I have worked for previously. There are always employees who are averse to change and who think they know better than management how to run things. Those individuals don't usually last long in this type of ever-changing, ever-growing, ever-improving environment.

    Advice to Management

Keep caring about your employees and your customers and continue to explore ways to improve.

    I worked at TraceSecurity

    Pros

The people. There are a lot of great people at this company. I can't say enough good things about them. They want to make things better and work really hard to.

    Cons

The people. For every great person, there's another one holding them back. Change is hard for any person/company but the people holding them back are REALLY holding them back.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate everything. So many problems to solve. And you really need a COO.
