I worked at Tractor Supply part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Tractor supply has a very friendly work environment and offers good base pay even for part time employees. It's also fun and offers a lot of exercise.

    Cons

There were a few unfriendly customers. Definitely a lot of being on your feet. I didn't mind being on my feet though.

I have been working at Tractor Supply full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great customer base.
    Rewarding if you work hard.
Small enough company that the higher ups listen to store level associates.
    Company encourages promotion and growth.

    Cons

Usually about 10-15 employees per store, makes coverage difficult at times.
Store managers pull on average 60 hours per week, usually more.

I have been working at Tractor Supply full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work load along with the customer interactions, this company is truly a blessing to work for and the people I work along side as well

    Cons

Sometimes you have to work holidays but I don't really mind because you do get paid for it. Also be able to provide the proper amount of payroll for the stores.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and let's focus at what we are good at and keep it going and continue to dominate sales and provide legendary customer service.

I worked at Tractor Supply full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company is growing and positioned for high earnings, they are cash strong and if internal to the company, growth is very achievable

    Cons

Lots of the jobs (full time) are going to contract and vendor based. They and many other corporate companies are leveraging the suppliers and outsourcing head count into their structure. This creates a Caste system that separates teams from "TSC" vs. "others" and it is very damaging to many of the teams.

    Advice to Management

Be one company, not a split between TSC and the others working in the building, this will drive results, deliver trust and encourage hard work while possibly encouraging lower supplier costs (what is the benefit of spending 5.5% of $100MM in sales vs. 10 employees salaries?)

I worked at Tractor Supply full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun products, great customers. Really felt like a family at the store. In my time there, I saw a lot of people climb the ladder from team member to management. The pay doesn't start out competitively, or at least it didn't when I worked there (finished in 2012) but the opportunity for growth is great. The work environment at the retail stores is nice. You have to work hard, and multi-task. But it's fun and the customers are so great. I liked everything about it. My husband works there still and really enjoys it.

    Cons

I'm only deducting one star because the health insurance isn't that great. I haven't been there since 2012 but my husband still works there. They changed the insurance and it's not very good or competitive. They do it sort of ala carte style and you build your coverage. But for what we are paying and what it includes, not very good. High deductibles. Other benefits are good.

I worked at Tractor Supply full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Worked with a good team. The people that I worked with, that were local and not sent from corporate, were really good people.

    Cons

Corporate office not in tune with what's going on in stores.

    Advice to Management

Hire and retain local people for management positions. Work harder to retain good employees.
