Former Employee - Operations Analyst in Mumbai

I worked at Trafigura full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Exposure to global trade world Very little micromanagement (may vary from team to team) You will love the work if you have a kick for numbers Chances of travelling abroad Free meals and travel facilities

    Cons

Brutal hire and fire policy Stressfull work environment, may feel like you have a gun to your head all times Repetitive work, may start to feel like a dead end after few months Slow growth in every aspect (hierarchy wise, learning wise and financially)

    Advice to Management

Try to make the company more employee friendly and flexible in terms of policies. Nobody likes a workplace which feels like school run by strict principles and teachers.

I worked at Trafigura full-time for more than a year

    Pros

the money they pay you is good. But beware

    Cons

    - Endless working hours - zero work life balance (the blackberry becomes an extension to your body) - Stress eating at cafeteria and all the free sugar drinks make you hate yourself - Personal vendetta run by higher ups in/outside of india

    Advice to Management

Management needs to change their view that if they pay you the money they have right to your soul and every single minute of your life.

I worked at Trafigura full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Exciting and rewarding work - if you're cut out for it - Opportunity to work and interact with stakeholders from across the globe - One can move desks to handle different products and different regions as you get experienced - Company provides transport, so travelling to work isn't as painful as it is generally in Mumbai - Managers are really helpful and provide guidance to resolve any pressing issues - The compensation is good along with a rewarding bonus structure. If you do well, you are recognized and compensated for it. - Benefits (insurance etc.) that are provided are really good and office facilities are world class. - One can eventually move to internationally after getting this experience as this industry and these roles have a huge scope in the Middle East. - There are really good quarterly and yearly parties! - It's a large organization and all the pros that come with it.

    Cons

    - Work can get stressful and overwhelming as operations are live round the clock - Work life balance can go for a toss depending on volume of work - Hours can get extended at time depending on what region you are handling

    Advice to Management

At times, there are different practices followed at international offices compared to the Mumbai office when it comes to work from home policy, comp off and local holidays - motivation can get affected!
