I have been working at TransCanada as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers and collaboration depending upon role. I am a contractor however the benefits are great and you get a very fair amount of time off, flex time (depending upon role) and many holidays. TransCanada does a fair amount of community engagement including volunteering and events such as the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo for example.

    Cons

Unfortunately, due to the current climate in the Energy sector they are experiencing company-wide reorganization but they are really trying to minimize layoffs. They have had essentially a hiring freeze for the last year and only have been hiring for select positions at this point.

    Advice to Management

More communication is necessary between some leaders and teams especially due to current uncertainties. Many people don't know what's going on until the last minute on whether they are safe or what changes in their role or department are coming down.

I have been working at TransCanada full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Was given an excellent relocation package when when job moved to new location. Nice office and diverse work environment.

    Cons

Limited advancement opportunties. Unable to establish growth with performance reviews.

    Advice to Management

It would be awesome if steps for advancement were spelled out. You can work really hard and not know what management wants in order to gain promotion. Senior managment are great people but keep their distance from the worker bee empoyees. I would like to see senior management attend staff meetings for teambuilding. No company is perfect but their is hope for positive outcome here.
