I have been working at TransCare full-time

    Pros

    - People that i work with are generally nice people who do care about their job and their bedside manner - Overtime is pretty accessible - More freedom on the road than other Ems agencies (e.g. Break times) and you don't feel too burnt out

    Cons

    - Bad communication between management - Multiple Supervisors and bosses who don't seem to know their exact roles and what is expected of them - Favoritism - Dispatchers do not generally have Ems backgrounds so poorly arrange Medical transports which end up being cancelled or bounced due to lack of Medical necessity for Ambulance, resulting in the company losing money - Pay is not appropriate

    I worked at TransCare

    Pros

NONE. This could be an excellent company to work for IF they invested money on functioning equipment and supplies in general.

    Cons

Hoping you get paid! There have been times where EMPLOYEES DID NOT GET PAID FOR WEEKS! When employees finally did get paid, Transcare DID NOT pay interest on money owed. Transcare is an AWFUL company to work for. I work out of the Mt. Vernon base. The dispatchers are the B word with control issues. The office/ turn-out staff constantly demonstrate favoritism among employees. EVERYONE SLEEPS AROUND WITH EACH OTHER! Even the married people. It's the company culture. Very inappropriate, RACIST comments against African Americans and women practiced by turn-out coordinators and the Mt. Vernon 911 employees who "hang out" at the base. Even the "N" word is tossed around!!! Extremely childish office staff. Very vindictive supervisors. HOSTILE work environment. Rules don't apply to everybody. Turn-out employees that are NOT EMTs ACTUALLY ARE ALLOWED TO RESPOND TO 911 CALLS WHEN COMPANY IS SHORT STAFFED!!!! You will feel very defeated working here. Take your tech card to FDNY. RUN FROM THIS PLACE!!!

"Disappointing. Transport EMS is not glamorous but I had hoped patients were viewed as people not dollars."

I worked at TransCare full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There were some very wonderful people who worked there, more good BLS than ALS people, even fewer management awesomeness but there were a few.

    Cons

Very clicky, Dispatch could and would mess with your clock out time if you made more work for them.. even if you were just following protocol. Folks had serious attitude problems which seems to be rampant in EMS in general, but it was very surprising how hard it was to maintain positive attitudes in such a toxic work environment.

I have been working at TransCare part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Flexible schedule...... Sometimes... and you get to open an MCU ACCOUNT weekly pay

    Cons

if you're a part time worker good luck trying to make ends meat if the staff dont like you or if you are a "NEW HIRE"... Work moral is very low... the worst staff possible... they bring their problems from home to work.... ghetto attitudes... the dispatchers can get real rude and nasty at times and dont care for you or nothing else at all.. as long as they dont get a "SNS".... forget about an actual break as when you can stop and get something to eat or just even use the bathroom... the buses are worn down and out dated... the "NEW HIRES" GETS THE WORST OF THE WORST"...good way to make your new employees want to stay!! if you go full time.. FORGET ABOUT HAVING A LIFE!... and keep count of your hours and the hours you've been on standby.. they will rob you if you don't!... BENFITS SUCKS!!.... 401K PLAN AS WELL.... for all the paper work you have to do and keep up with the companies money... they should start you off with $15 per hr.. drivers have so much responsibilities... god forbid if you get into an accident especially NEW HIRES MTA HAVES NO REMORSE OR PITY WHAT SO EVER... the cancellations of your route can cause you to come up short on your check for the week.. that's not good at all... you can blame dispatchers for that as well... if your headed to the base.. be prepared to see extra trips pop up out of nowhere even if your almost at the base they can hold you past your shift meaning drivers can be worked 10 hrs straight!!...

I have been working at TransCare full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pay checks are weekly and stable.

    Cons

Where to start. The management at the Pittsburgh Station does not care for its employees. Any advice that you give them or complaints that you make fall on deaf ears. Employees here are over worked. When I was hired I was told that I could be held over two hours over my shift if the company needed it, but they made it sound like that did not happen all to often. This is not the case. Since I have started here I have been held over almost everyday at least one hours, usually around two hours and even up to three or four hours! The dispatchers do not inform you that you will be held over, they just keep on working you. It is impossible to make plans after work because you have no idea when you will actually get off. While you are supposed to be on a set schedule, your schedule can be adjusted if they need you to come in earlier. The equipment they provide you with is in horrendous condition. The trucks constantly break down because they are run into the ground so much. You will not be getting any breaks or time for lunch unless there is a lull in the work load, which there usually is not. Generally you are just performing trip after trip after trip. Management feels its necessary to write people up for every little thing they can think of. For example, if you forget to sign out or even if their machine is not working and it does not log you signing out, managements first instinct is to blame the employee and write them up. You will be lied to if you work for this company, you will be overworked, and you will be uncared for. Do not get me started on the benefits they provide, if you can even call them that. You will have to pay most of it out of your own pocket and their insurance is picky on what it will even cover. On top of that the rates you are charged out of your paycheck are just outrageous considering how much you get paid. The pay checks might be weekly and on time, but you are better off trying to find employment else where. I certainly will not be remaining there much longer.

I have been working at TransCare

    Pros

PAYCHECK is all I can think of

    Cons

employees are not listened to,terrible benefits, extremely long shifts, cant plan anything afterwork, shifts cant be filled, suspensions for taking a break or stopping to eat, constantly late for calls due to a high volume of trips and not enough employees to do them, its all about the money not the patient or employee, between 1 and 15 hrs overtime a shift, employees feelings dont matter, very strict policy manual, dispatchers/call takers/upper management (everyone that walks out the door at their scheduled off time) dont know how to say no, especially when trips are 3 hours behind. the business should be called Don'tcare not Transcare. no christmas bonus or gift, no company picnic, we are told what to do and not asked, very bad scheduling, bidded shifts get changed due to "operational demand", management wont work with employees. everyone understands that Transcare like every other business is out to make money, what they dont seem to understand is happy employees raise moral which in turn makes for happy customers.
