Current Employee - Document Review Attorney

I have been working at TransPerfect (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good atmosphere, let you get the work done on your schedule (if you're a morning person or not)

    Cons

Long stretches of time without a project, but that's not really anyone's fault. It's a fact of document review.

    Advice to Management

No complaints here, hope to have another contract

I worked at TransPerfect (Less than a year)

    Pros

    You learn a lot fast!

    Cons

Worst organizational culture ever at Houston.

    Advice to Management

Look into your organizational culture. Don't sugarcoat it. There's so much to do. Get a good consultant or you won't survive. Word is out there about your administrative disasters. It is in how you handle projects.

I have been working at TransPerfect (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is good for document reviewers. They provide free parking.

    Cons

Cheratta Campbell and Charlotte Williams are rude on a daily basis. They largely have no idea what they are doing and are not helpful to reviewers. In the off chance they provide useful information, you pay for it with their huge attitudes. Also Transperfect is closing down from December 25 to January 3. Since we are hourly, contract employees no paid holiday. That's roughly a grand they are costing each employee over...

    Advice to Management

If you want document reviewers to want to work with you then manage your Project Managers attitude. No one wants to work with someone who is so short all the time. Also have a streamlined process for announcing rules or changes so that all reviewers are bound to hear them.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at TransPerfect (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Access to the unrestricted internet.

    Cons

Sit to close together, projects NEVER last as long as they say, project managers are paid more and therefore have entitlement issues because they think they have more say so than other contract workers.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate the "speed coders," anticipate project length better taking into account: time, droppers, speed coders and number of reviewers.

I worked at TransPerfect full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Rate per hour, especially for reviewers working with foreign languages. Flexible work periods and lots of overtime during the week and on weekends

    Cons

Office with no air con and enough space for everyone; payment took ages - more than one month!; Payment from USA and transperfect plays with the rates

    Advice to Management

    Treat reviewers with more respect
