There are some great employees. You get to work with talented linguists around the world.

    Cons

High stress job. Expectation that employees work extremely long hours. Some of the managers don't seem to respect their employees. A lot of employee turnover.

    Pros

If you have a rich history in the legal field, have a bunch of connections in the legal world, or have family members who are all lawyers, you can make money. But if you are anyone else, see cons. There are also some amazing people who work here. Hard workers. People who try hard to protect their livelihood and families. I was fortunate to find gems of people all over the company, around the world.

    Cons

I am going to do my best to be objective, here are my thoughts. I know its biased regardless, so bear with me. I have a lot to say. I did pretty well in this company...and I still left. 1. Look up the companies owners, history, and other reviews. That alone will tell you loads of information about why you should seriously reconsider taking an opportunity at this company. 2. Its a huge company that's lost in the...

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging. If you treat your employees well they will do a good job. Stop making the quotas unachievable, saying that things are desperate and you need to tighten the collar on all the sales teams till they choke, then boast record setting revenue goals. You can treat employees well and hit realistic quotas without torturing your employees.

Coworkers from all around the world and that is it.

    Cons

Very unprofessional, this company does not care about the Interpreters. Lady from scheduling is the most incompetent and unpleasant to speak with, always with a terrible attitude and arrogance. Management is terrible.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to replace Tempe management they are very incompetent.

    Pros

You will have some excellent coworkers, many of whom come from all around the world. TransPerfect truly is a global company, so you'll be exposed to many new languages and cultures.

    Cons

If you have previous experience working in an office... any office environment at all... you should be very wary about applying/accepting a job with TransPerfect. - The TransPerfect reviews on Glassdoor about work/life balance are completely accurate. Advice to Management

It's very simple: Value your employees more. If you have anyone who lasts longer in this role than several months, you should be treating that person like gold. At some point, the high turnover rate and low morale will be impossible to ignore and the status quo of burying your heads in the sand and pretending everything is just fine won't work.

I worked at TransPerfect full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Job requires a great deal of organizational skills and timely actionable work on a daily basis, this forces you to learn at a quick pace and manage a wide variety of tasks at the same time. You work with people from around the world and practice negotiating, budgeting, quality control on short TAT and building relationships.

    Cons

The work can be never ending. This creates for a high stress environment and a great deal of the time, you can spend 12+ hours and still find yourself with work that needs to be done. The high stress environment creates room for error and when errors happen, the company (not my direct managers) look for a reason/person to blame. This places a lot of pressure on those who make mistakes on brushing any errors under the...

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your employees and what they are looking and need to succeed. Autonomy is great, but can lead to creating a stale work environment and halt the progress of an individual.

Educated, ambitious and highly competent young coworkers; Work with linguists around the world; Learn corporate office etiquette; Acquire high tolerance for stress; Hiring during recession.

    Cons

Extremely high turnover; Excessive workload; Long hours, no compensation for overtime; Culture of intimidation and fear; Project management requires no language skills- this is task management at best; Bare minimum of holidays given; Archaic system from Microsoft Outlook to Excel sheets; Niche industry, skill set is extremely specific to the company, does not translate (pun intended) to marketable skills in other...

    Advice to Management

People are not machines. A person's daily output varies from individual to individual and cannot be measured against the most efficient employee holding the same title. Invest in your employees and do not micromanage them; they will build resentment towards you and eventually stop caring about the quality of their work. Streamline workflows and build APIs so that employees do not waste time on extraordinarily mundane...

If you're reading these reviews as somebody who is contemplating a job at TPT, let me try to talk you out of it. I was once in your position. I heard that the hours were terrible and the job was stressful. And I thought to myself, the people complaining about that are probably just lazy. I'm smart and work hard, so this won't be a problem for me. But you really don't understand until you've been in the trenches yourself:...

    Advice to Management

Do you really think making people post positive reviews on glassdoor will actually improve the company's reputation? Believe it or not, employees talk to each other after hours, they talk to their friends who aren't in the industry, and unhappy translators who've been ripped off will also talk. WORD GETS AROUND. Fix something for once instead of resorting to your usual approach (sweeping things under the rug until you...

    Pros

TPT is filled with smart, ambitious people. I have found some of best friends and lifelong connections there. I loved working with linguists all around the world. I only wish that I was able to really work with them, not just push translations through the system to create a rushed and poor quality deliverable. This is a great "starter job" so people can understand what they do and do not want in their career. For most,...

Pattern of staff terminations (voluntary or not), clearly indicates there is a spoke broken in the training curve and production wheel...although blame is continually deflected from this blatant problem to make it appear the issue is the lack of skill with the production team. Continual acceptance of impossible deadlines that result in undue stress to the production staff - as well as making them vulnerable, and typically...

    Advice to Management

For your own sake, PLEASE invest in the people that add quality to your company. They are the absolute only reason why TPT is still growing. It's time for TransPerfect to look internally at their production process and not place all blame on the staff when production doesn't meet deadlines. I can't imagine this is the first time these observations have been relayed to management. After all, anyone with any business...

    Cons

Compensation Repetitive Stressful Work Long Hours for all employees lack of work life balance lack of recognition few incentives for most employees

    Advice to Management

The work is the modern equivalent of an assembly line with lower pay and fewer benefits. Turnover is ridiculous basically everyone there is waiting for a better opportunity elsewhere, and after awhile any opportunity.
