      Cons

TPT was run like a frat house when I was there. Totally NO accountability from upper management and absolutely no transparency.

I worked at TransPerfect full-time for more than 4 years

        Pros

        - move up quickly - performance driven - smart people - young - extremely social environment - opportunities for growth and to move both horizontally and vertically within company - travel opportunities -diverse group of people - learn a lot in a short amount of time

        Cons

        - upper management no clue how to manage people. Most people in their late 20s, early 30s and got promoted because they've been at the company a long time but with little to no management experience. - can be a popularity contest at times, like a fraternity - extremely stressful (workload expectations too much), long hours - can be unprofessional (lots of upper management sleeping with staff) - poor pay (especially...

        Advice to Management

Encourage a greater work-life balance. Listen to ALL employees and hear what they have to say, don't only promote and listen to a select few. Applaud and recognize jobs well done, don't just reprimand someone or only pay attention to things gone wrong. Create an environment that makes people feel comfortable. Pay more. All employees know how much senior sales staff make. Show people they are valued, and have a legitimate...

I have been working at TransPerfect full-time for more than 4 years

        Pros

I've been in Production NYC at TPT for over 4 years. Yes, it's a demanding place to work, but that is part of why it is special. I've worked at a couple agencies before TPT and I never experienced the kind of teamwork and cooperative environment that I see day in and day out at TransPerfect. This is particularly true of large projects...and from the top down. We had a huge job last year that required us to (literally)...

        Cons

The starting salaries could be better, but I am pretty sure that I've said that about every job I've ever had. Also, working with Sales can be a bit stressful...but, again, this is probably also a universal reality.

        Advice to Management

Hmmm. Someone mentioned the dispute between the owners. Honestly, I worked at TPT for 3 years before this started and only recently became aware of all of this. It hasn't impacted my job at all. My direct supervisors are great. As for the CEOs, I have no idea what Liz Elting does, but I can't imagine there are many CEOs that work as hard and as closely with employees of all levels as Mr. Shawe. Plus the success...

        I worked at TransPerfect

        Pros

Great place for an entry level job. You'll learn a lot in a short period of time and leave with a highly marketable set of skills.

        Cons

Everything. This is probably the worst place that I have ever worked. From the top down it's poorly run. They are cheap, dishonest, and disorganized. Management and Middle Management is a joke and often times learning how to do their jobs on the fly. Compensation is terrible. Benefits are terrible. Work/Life balance is non existent. If you are over the age of 25 and have any work experience this is not the place for you.

        Advice to Management

Look in the mirror. You are the problem, not the solution. Stop trying to squeeze every last ounce of productivity out of your employees with the expectation that you don't owe them anything in return. The smart ones are already on the way out the door.

        Pros

Coworkers awesome and supportive because we were all in the same miserable boat. Lots of responsibility--you learn A LOT.

        Cons

Underpaid, overworked. Raises? Laughable. Few holidays. Zero work/life balance. Pressured to take accounts/work late without overtime. High turnover.

        Advice to Management

Pay production staff what they're worth. Stop wringing them dry and pressuring them to take more accounts without fair compensation.

I have been working at TransPerfect

        Pros

international fun loving co-workers and a chance to learn a lot about this business

        Cons

Extreme low pay and long hours. They want to squeeze every last amount of energy from their people and underpay them by waiving work visas to unsuspecting fresh out of college foreign kids. Owners have a Lordship peasant mentality. An almost discriminatory preference for under 25 year old workers so they don't have to pay. No overtime yet they expect people to work 14 hour days. Its basically a modern day sweatshop...
