I have been working at TransUnion full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, great healthcare, possible to get flexible work hours if your manager approves. Experience with manager approved benefits depends entirely on your location/manager so do your research

    Cons

Poor mgmt that emphasizes placing blame instead of coaching. Disengaged HR allows discrimination and disrespect to run rampant. Upper mgmt mocks lesser employees and enjoys gossiping about them with the employee's peers. 2017 has had a very high number of employees quitting, mgmt is aware but unwilling or incapable to act on poor morale. Unfortunately b/c of culture there is no incentive to speak honestly with mgmt, so employees don't do it. I've never worked with so many people who are looking for other work in my life

They often promise promotions that never appear or when they do, they come with a 4% raise (default "raise" is 2% but don't count on getting that either and no other cost of living adjustment is given). Don't accept a job here hanging on a promise of career or salary progression, it's not going to happen. When you want a raise or promotion it makes the most sense just to leave

    Advice to Management

Sending out an engagement survey once a year isn't going to fix it. Chicago HQ should be more involved in this branch

    No opinion of CEO

    I worked at TransUnion full-time

    Pros

Co-workers (developers) are mostly smart, open minded...

Based on your social skills or affiliations, you have little/no work on most days.

Covered parking is rewarded to good employees as a recognition.

Good challenges such as big data problems to discuss, understand and then ...

    Cons

In general, there is a lot of exclusion, secrecy, racism, nepotism, hierarchy status, ...

Some of management practices causes issues/conflicts/resentment. For example, some issues are resolved while some are used to cause further rift.

Growth is null but the perks/assistance are based on your favoritism/IP scale.

    Advice to Management

Be creative than merely copying LN products, bad mouthing, and attacking (attack issues not the person).

Learn as much as you want
If you are been micro-managed, it means you are not yet cutting it...

    Cons

Expectations are high, some don't like it, other thrive in it

I have been working at TransUnion full-time

    Pros

Mostly smart coworkers with good work ethic, environment improving, new office is nice. Overall compensation is great. TU is going to last, you can make a proper long term career with the overall TU organisation.

    Cons

Quite a few bad managers, generally bad corporate culture especially on the tech side, your team culture depends 100% on your boss. For technical positions your skills will stagnate. Small office without much room for career growth unless you look at HQ jobs.

Business/product senior mgmt and culture largely better than tech mgmt and culture.

    Advice to Management

Too much micromanaging, take a few notes from Chicago instead of constantly criticizing them to your employees. Try to build people up instead of just tearing them down. Stop playing favorites.
