I worked at TransUnion full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Hour Lunch / Massage Chairs

    Cons

Politics politics politics. 80% of the company is referred so good luck getting in without one. You'll get promoted one time from their entry level position "RAE-1" TO "RAE-2" (without a base salary increase, only commission structure increases) then if you want to move up in the company anymore you'll have to move to where their corporate office is in the windy city of Chicago. Management is only focused on their responsibilities to keep the VP off their backs and come from prior jobs with no prior management experience, but seem to be given the role based on age rather then qualifications. Same goes for most of the other positions within.

    Advice to Management

Lets be honest we all know training is terrible. Therefore, you need to be more of a mentor/leader guiding people to success. Don't be someone that comes in everyday stressing everyone out asking why your reps are doing things a certain way when they were never showed the right way in the first place.

    Pros

Great company culture, great people. TransUnion has so much growth potential in the future. I have enjoyed working there.

    Cons

Career development is a weakness at TransUnion. A lot of associates don't know where they can head to regarding next career move.

    Pros

    Work-life balance, great employees, benefits

    Cons

TU is trying to comp bonus ineligible associates, but it would be great if more individual contributors were tied to revenue vs the discretionary bonus given by management. Also, promotions are sometimes classified as "lateral" moves. The global job framework was a good change for consistency, but we are still behind in acknowledging career development titles for individual contributors

    Advice to Management

Rework the global job framework. It's now too basic and strands associates in roles with no growth. Owning your career is one thing, but give us something to strive for.

    Pros

    Better than fair pay,
    Good with flex time

    Cons

You don't get challenged. Basically, you get a secretary job with an engineer title. Worst company to work for if you want to grow your skills.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in your employees

I have been working at TransUnion full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company has gone through change for the better since it has gone public. Jim Peck is like a breath of fresh air. Company is doing extremely well and I see an even brighter future for the company. Work from Home opportunity for everyone is nice.

    Cons

The pay is low and below market value. The hike of 1-3% doesn't really recognize the efforts put in by the employees throughout the year. Managers are inefficient and promotions are rare.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the efforts of your employees and treat everyone fairly while doing the final reviews.

I have been working at TransUnion full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Agile and suitable for people willing to adopt to things changing fast.
    Learning opportunity
    Be part of growing company

    Cons

Being agile means, loosing family life.
I worked 60 hour weeks several months this year.
Company is more focused on showing revenue for Investors rather than compensating employees for their hard work.
Yearly Salary growth will be very low.
Limited resources with over work load and you feel the pain sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Years on resume is not something which should decide salary. Employee's attitude to work hard and his/her accomplishments should decide the salary growth. If you continue to raise 1-3% yearly, it's hard for you to retain people. We are working 50-60 hrs week whenever TransUnion needs, getting things done, saving on your revenue, and finally loosing family life and if you give us 1-3% hike, will that make us happy and will that give us any reason to stay at TransUnion?
