    I worked at Transocean full-time

    Pros

-Flex time work week and 1/2 day Friday
    -Decent benefits
Five years ago, the Pros list would've easily outweighed the Cons list.

    Cons

-Management is not interested in developing employees for growth
-Long work hours and increased work responsibilities with no increase in pay
-Company does not appreciate their employees
    -Bad communication

    Advice to Management

Senior management should get feedback from employees on their work conditions. Seems that maybe mid-level management misrepresents conditions to senior management to make them conditions seem better than they really are.

I have been working at Transocean full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, decent backlog of work, well positioned for the recovery of offshore drilling.

    Cons

Continued down manning of rigs. Promotion and transfers are all dependent on who you know or luck. Performance evaluations don't seem to be worth the paper they are printed on.

    Advice to Management

Clarity, clarity, clarity. By the time information gets down to the deck plates (if it gets there at all) it is typically exaggerated or wrong.

I worked at Transocean full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Excellent benefits (200% of the first 5% matching on 401k, good HSA). Training programs are good.

    Cons

It's a huge company with the bureaucracy to match. Lots of paperwork and burdensome regulations. Pay is high compared to land jobs but lower than many companies offshore. Everybody seems to be waiting for the axe to drop, more guys are laid off every day because of low oil prices.

    Advice to Management

Don't lay off half the rig and expect to be able to do the same work. Don't compromise safety for money.

I have been working at Transocean full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company held on to you if you were a good hand and did your job. 401k is 2 to 1 up to 5% on your 401k contribution.

    Cons

We took a lot of pay cuts and and lost our pension. Insurance continues to go up each year. You can't call home from your room on board the vessel only certain positions have that luxury.

    Advice to Management

Enough with the regulations. Help the working man do there job and not restrict us at every turn. Safety is very important to us. Find a happy medium with regulations in order for us to perform our jobs better.

I worked at Transocean full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company did a good job looking out for employees benefits (med. Den. salary matching etc), pay, career.

    Cons

The company treats all employees equal without regard to longevity, most often this is ideal, in some instances not so though, ex. during mass layoffs, employees with 15 to 20 yrs service were giving the same package as those with 4 yrs. Those with longer service to the company should have been rewarded for their lengthy service.

    Pros

Benefits begin immediately upon hire, there is no 90 waiting period.

    Cons

Cost of benefits continue to go up dramatically. Probably more of a result of the overall US healthcare industry and Oil & Gas state of industry.

I worked at Transocean full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Transocean is the largest, and I would argue the safest,

    Cons

they have gotten too big and no longer care about employees, advancement is who you know not what you know... you are relegated to a number now.

    Pros

Good pay. Good Benefits. Good Schedule.

    Cons

Too many Chiefs, not enough indians. Critics everywhere. There's a fine line between safety and stupidity.

    Advice to Management

Apply accountability. Use the strengths of your people instead of handcuffing every position in the company.
