    Pros

Great company values that show through all of the employees

    Cons

Biggest con would be that it is located in Hartford, CT.

I have been working at Travelers full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Benefits, PTO, work from home

    Cons

Very tough quality management, rough managers, the industry itself can be "interpreted loosely" as far as what is correct, performance reviews are difficult, home office in Hartford is always watching you, pulling files, etc and all of this on top of dealing with angry customers and fraudulent lawyers all day

    Advice to Management

    Need more uniformity

    Pros

    - strong student program - lots of events for interns - $1 increase for each prelim exam - very smart people who work there

    Cons

    - employee resource groups aren't as developed - didn't enjoy Hartford as much, smaller city

I have been working at Travelers full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pension OK Benefits I can't think of anything else but haven't met the minimum

    Cons

Super elitist culture, especially for entry-level talent. Interns are brought in and made to think that this internship program operates like most other large companies, one full-time spot for every intern, and if they meet/exceed expectations, they'll go back to school with a job offer. What travelers does instead is bring in 2-3 interns for every 1 full time spot. Every summer they have a "intern symposium", flying all senior-class interns from around the country into Hartford for 2 days endless marketing pitches about why they should come work for Travelers, again, painting the fake picture that there are spots for all of them... tying back to the elitism, they claim to only want the best talent and recruit them hard, but don't deliver on the claims they make about the employee experience. They use diversity as a prop. This summer there was a deaf intern working in one of the department and had him do an event where he was supposed to be giving some kind of talk, but the interpreter never showed up and everyone around him was just speaking on his behalf. Totally wanted to showboat the fact that they took this intern in only to basically humiliate him. Also the "leadership" name in all of their programs is SUPER misleading. VERY rarely do graduates of the programs make it above mid-level management, even 20-30 years down the line. This place is a technological joke. New(ish) CIO is gonna have a hell of a time turning this around.

I have been working at Travelers full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

PTO, Benefits, flexibility with hours, stable company, much better making strides towards keeping up with technology.

    Cons

Top heavy with upper level management and people who 'manage' projects in general. Managers who a out of touch with what you do. Career opportunities are favored if you are in Hartford.

    Advice to Management

Don't need so many people managing and tracking projects, Power Points and dashboards are fine but don't get the work done. Listen more to the people doing the work. Being honest is a good thing.

I have been working at Travelers full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lots of vacation time, opportunities to work remotely, they care very much about the community, relaxed/no dress code (from the CEO "dress to your day"), many employees who are from CT love working in the Hartford office, CEO is very forward thinking and progressive and has made a big effort to improve company culture

    Cons

If you're thinking of moving to the Hartford office and you're not from CT, I don't recommend working here. Almost everyone in the Hartford office is from CT and they are not very welcoming to other views or cultures. I've talked to multiple people who have worked in other places across the US and we all had culture shock when we started working for Travelers. It's very much "their way or the highway" and they will purposely make your job miserable and refuse to promote you in hopes that you will leave their team simply because you have a different cultural normal for corporate america.
