I have been working at Travelport full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

One of the few places i have worked that seem to actually respond to what the employee surveys say. They do not just give lip service and respond to the topics that they want to; rather, upper management actually takes on the issues and makes changes.
Travelport has a good work life balance for most teams.

    Cons

New senior management, so it is hard to say anything here. There are always minor stresses involved in transitions but it appears those speed bumps are almost over.
HR departments are slow to act. Especially when acting on hiring decisions made by teams with open resources. Please be patient when applying. It is worth the wait.

    Advice to Management

Organize and give more resources to our HR departments and encourage them to work with the teams to help with the hiring processes.
    Communicate opportunities for charitable involvement.

    Pros

I've loved my time at Travelport so far. I work on interesting projects and always have something new coming across my docket, I get to travel internationally, the pay is above the industry norm for my role and I am able to participate in an Employee Stock Purchase Plan at a discount. Furthermore, when needed, managers are very flexible and the work/life balance is very easy to manage. The workstation technology is also a plus, I have a large monitor and can get a second if needed, ergonomic swinging arms for monitors as well as your standard laptop, dock and IP desk phone.

    Cons

Travelport recently re-organized its business structure, there were many improvements but they're still working out some of the kinks.

    Advice to Management

Add more social activities at the office

I worked at Travelport full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - The option to work form home
    - 6% 401k Matching (at the time)
    - Great Benefits since they were such a large company

    Cons

    - Lots of politics and playing favorites
    - The office in Denver was very dated, old dull gray cubicles, old computers (pc based)
    - No sense of community, fun events, or social togetherness
    - Aging employees celebrating their 30 yr anniversary says something about the lack of innocation

    Advice to Management

Hire younger talented individuals and let them do great things.

I have been working at Travelport full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Challenging environment trying to provide 24x7x365 processing for travel industry reservations without any system outages.

    Cons

Industry is in transition away from travel agents toward OTA's and booking directly with airlines/hotels, putting pressure on Travelport business model. Significant number of management changes in a short amount of time.

    Advice to Management

Travelport management should try and be more careful about who they hire in management roles, and not keep changing their minds about the direction of the company every two years. This is particularly true for technical architecture changes.

I worked at Travelport full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great compensation, benefits, work environment, HR staff and exciting to work in the IT Industry for Travel, watching helping both evolve.

    Cons

Like a lot of companies these days, there is some 'pain' that comes with company growth and evolution. Mergers and acquisitions require the ability to adapt fairly quickly as cultures come together. I view this as an opportunity to learn and experience something many will not. Not necessarily a Con.

    Advice to Management

Continue to evolve the roles & responsibilities with titles and banding while the overall Industry evolves.

    Pros

Big data, high volume B2B transactions platform with a global reach
Plenty of opportunities to make impactful changes
Refocused after global recessions and the resulting travel declines
Great work-life balance in the Denver office

    Cons

Some odd hours need to meet with oversea colleagues and customers
In transition regarding technologies and workflow methods
Older tools need to be sunset, and teams reassigned

    Advice to Management

Accelerate process towards agile development and cloud based solutions.

I worked at Travelport full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Many of the people are amazing.
The benefits are standard - health, dental, optical. Time off is also standard.
The Virtual nature of the job is great as it allows one to live and work where ever but it does create isolation.
Over the years in different departments I have had some fantastic bosses, but others have been just average.

    Cons

Worldspan is being phased out in favor of Apollo in the US.
There is not much push to advance, if you want a promotion you better be self motivated.
