I have been working at Travis County, Texas full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Its a county job. The 401 K plan is awesome. decent benefits.
money for most jobs is pretty good

    Cons

There is a lady that works in the Pflugerville office for family and services that is racist and rude.
The benefits keep changing over the years and is making it difficult for families with large deductibles.

    Advice to Management

Honestly, when there are several complaints about one person and people are leaving because of that persons managerial skills something should be looked into. Not everyone that is a supervisor should be one.

I have been working at Travis County, Texas full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Easy job at times, decent pay, basic hours, good benefits

    Cons

Low salary growth, if grants come back work load could dramatically change, work space old, keeping a drive to do something more than the bare minimum is hard when being a grubberment employee, 5% budget cut means employees about to feel the cuts

    Advice to Management

Needs more advancement to drive employees,

I have been working at Travis County, Texas full-time

    Pros

Fair pay, great benefits, and great time off policies. The move from my previous job to this one has allowed me to have a much more stable schedule. Everyone is willing to help you out if you have any questions, and management is very conscious of your workload and advise you on how to commit appropriately.

    Cons

Only reason my overall rating is 4/5 is that the earning potential is limited, and pay raises are at a slower rate and drug out over a longer course of time when compared to the private sector.

    Advice to Management

    keep it up!

I have been working at Travis County, Texas (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Travis County is great employer for any stage of your career. Great retirement, good salary for the area, dedicated work force.

    Cons

Some disparity in job titles, salaries between departments when duties and responsibilities are similar. Working for elected officials can be difficult, but sometimes rewarding

    Advice to Management

Communicate better and more often with rank and file. Try to focus on similar goals instead of trying to "one-up" each other .
