I worked at Treasure Island Hotel & Casino full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great M-F schedule in the dept. I was in. Good place to gain experience because there wasn’t much stress and no OT. I pretty much went to work, did my job and went home without any worries. No micro management where I was at. No weekly or monthly meetings (unless you were a manager or above), which was great because they didn’t waste our time.

    Cons

They don’t do performance reviews like everyone else. Raises were non existent in the dept. I was in. While I was there, I heard that employees only get raises if the executive overseeing your dept. is willing to fight for you and if it gets approved by the owner. There were no benefits, no 401K matching, no discounts other than for Mystere. They are spending a lot to renovate the hotel, but the back of house... offices/areas are in dire need of renovation. I felt like it was a health hazard since nothing got cleaned, the carpets were very old and dirty, the furniture was ancient, the AC was blasting even in the winter, EDR food was horrible, etc...

    Advice to Management

There is a reason why there is high employee turnover. Rethink your salaries and benefits for your employees. Raises should be consistent with performance just like how many other companies do it. It shouldn’t be based on whether your executive feels like fighting for you or not.
