Worst Company in the Wine Industry

      Jun 21, 2017 - Anonymous Employee

      Pros

If you enjoy being miserable everyday at your job this company is for you!

      Cons

Treats employees like crap, and has zero regard for inspiring a culture where people enjoy their jobs; employees are a true number in this company and they do not care about talent retention or employee development. Incompetent management and senior management; more overhead than people actually doing the work to make and sell the wine. Very political environment, lots of change management chaos, lack of structure, lack of leadership, or a coherent plan to move this company forward with the corporate vision. All of the long time directors and senior winemakers have decide to jump ship, leaving the high end brands in the hands of novice winemakers.

Senior Management not willing to listen and lacks Leadership, Direction and the Strategy is flawed.

      Pros

Great people to work with, strong brands and great hospitality sites.

      Cons

Senior management continue to want to run a global business from Australia and the regions continue to suffer from inept management as a result. Many great people have departed the business over the past 12 - 18 months, frustrated and fed up with the attitude of senior management, their unwillingness to listen, or fully comprehend regional issues. Full bonuses have rarely been paid over the past 5 years as unrealistic targets are continually set for the business. Reporting lines all lead to Australia and support functions such as Finance, IT and HR are without local leadership and are floundering as a result. The strategy implemented by Australia is a global strategy not a regional strategy and as such takes into account no regional conditions or performance, and as is often the case bonuses are not paid as a result.

Years of explicit arrogant and highly unethical betrayal of employees and shareholders

Jun 12, 2014 - Finance in Napa, CA

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great brands, good vineyards and high quality wines

      Cons

HORRIBLE leadership in basically every possible way. Fear based, non engaging, zero morale and ethics. Years and years of repeating the same mistakes over and over again, and trying to fix it not by doing things differently but by rotating senior management that is responsible and laying people off

      Confusion and Chaos

      Pros

US wines are great, most people are passionate about their jobs and supporting the great wines that are produced and sold.

      Cons

From the top down structure and decisions are not being made quickly enough. Supply and Demand is not aligned, when issues are raised senior management covers up hoping to figure out how to fix. Supply and demand are not aligned and there is no signs of that being worked on, you would think with the write down someone would be trying to fix that.

      Poor Leadership but Great Brands

      Feb 11, 2018 - Regional Sales Director

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Portfolio is loaded with iconic Napa Valley and Australian brands.

      Cons

Senior management has been a revolving door. Management does not effectively communicate to the field. There is a sense of entitlement and arrogance within senior management. Additionally, there has been a large influx of Australian managers put in place recently to lead the sales department and they have a limited understanding of the US market place. The US sales leads are narcissistic.

Great place to learn about the wine industry

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great wines and properties. Great winemakers. Competitive benefits

      Cons

Senior management is a revolving door. This precludes the organization from having a long term vision and strategy. There is no trust between managers and employees.

      Terrible Place to Work

      Dec 27, 2011 -  in Napa, CA

      Pros

The benefits are good and the wine is great. The Napa Valley is an incredible place for those interested in food and wine.

      Cons

Senior management has no clue! They operate with a knee-jerk reaction, focusing everything in one direction one day and turning another direction the next day.

Plagued by politics & nepotism. Not run like a business.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Fantastic wine portfolio & employee benefits.

      Cons

Unless you are one of the "cool kids", working at Treasury is difficult. It's like high school all over again. Nepotism and favoritism are rampant. Senior management is aloof and disconnected. Employee recognition is sometimes based on results, but unfortunately, it is often based on friendships. During layoffs, people with friends in the organization keep their jobs.

Beware of the positive reviews; nothing has changed.

Dec 3, 2014 - Director in Napa, CA
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The portfolio has some of the best brands in the world; too bad they can't get their act together. Good pay and benefits.

      Cons

Senior management is dropping the ball and blaming the middle managers. Unable to increase wine sales in an expanding market. Actively trying to improve their Glassdoor score with fake positive reviews that don't reflect what is really happening at the company.
