I worked at Trend Micro (Less than a year)

    Pros

None whatsoever, I would not recommend this place to start your career at all.

    Cons

HORRIBLE! They market this as a rotational program but the only availability is in sales. They engage in sleazy sales tactics in order to coerce people into wanting more information. Complete lack of leadership from marketing lead and often witnessed instances of bullying, nepotism, and a general distaste for helping others succeed. They are wholly sales motivated so if that's where you're looking to grow that's fine but this is still a bad place to do it. Complete lack of millennial retention because they are stuck in their ways and prefer to keep kicking the dead horse. Horrible culture in addition to misguided business practices. Convinced they are doing good but do so in unethical means.

    Advice to Management

If you want a sales program, brand it as such and don't allow petty managers to stifle the ambition of those you bring in.

I have been working at Trend Micro full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Insane benefits, especially medical coverage...The benefits were overhauled in 2016. Will look standard up front, but their coverage is unlike anything i've experienced. Family culture, original CEO and owners. Very Asian in the way the business operates.

    Cons

Sometimes disjointed, up front pay is borderline competitive, but they state they don't pay what others do even if it's market value...really exceptional people can earn well here, but it can be challenging to get large growth in salary.

I worked at Trend Micro full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Nice break room. Good location

    Cons

Upper and middle management is completely clueless. All their grandstanding about being innovative and a company that's not afraid to "try things" simply codes for having no clue what they're doing. Every year they come up with a new product to focus on, and a new team to build, but I think that both current and potential employees have caught on.

    Advice to Management

Clean house in management if you want a change so badly. Every few years you find reasons to spin the old revolving door, and bring in new talent and dump the old, only to end up in the same position in another few years. It's like clock work, but they only common factor is mid to upper management. Any other company would have figured out management is the issue, by a simple process of elimination.

I have been working at Trend Micro full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers, great culture, good benefits, relaxed work environment, great break room, great career advancement into sales roles

    Cons

Weak management, low pay, SMaRT program is actually a telemarketer job that only leads to sales positions (contrary to what the job description may tell you), constant gossip in the workplace

    Advice to Management

When management constantly gossips about other management/workers behind their back, it gives a bad impression.

Don't treat your new workers as a side project. Use your experience to invest into your new workers, instead of a laissez-faire approach. If you are going to advertise the SMaRT program as a funnel into various positions, actually create opportunities for advancement. The state of the program right now almost exclusively leads to sales careers. Or, at the very least, change job descriptions to reflect its current state.
