I have been working at Trend Micro full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Because management is so weak, you have a lot of latitude to define your own job.

    Cons

Consider a scenario where the Trend Micro COO is holding a large company meeting. Then he says something like ‘Trend is really great because look at how many blacks we hire. Now, all blacks come to the front of the room’. At best, that’s patronizing. At worst, it’s racist.

Okay, it didn’t happen quite that way -- it was women instead of blacks. It is still patronizing and it is sexist -- and clearly inappropriate. How could an executive possibly be so clueless?

    Advice to Management

Most of the executive team should be replaced with professional management that has had experience in running large, successful organizations.

    Good Benefits , Decent Salary

    Cons

Totally terrible management , Treats you like slaves , No career growth whatsoever , New COO is the worst thing happened to the company . No matter what happens, Never join the support team ( Almost every engineer in the company is stucked on this job and looking for an alternative ) .

    Advice to Management

Show career growth to the employees . Make them feel valuable and not slaves , At least give some raise .

I have been working at Trend Micro full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Solid technology, definitely some bright coworkers.

    Cons

From a field sales perspective, your territory/accounts will make or break you. The mindset here is to hire 10 reps per territory, and hope that 2 of them will hit their year, much to the detriment of the other 8 guys that are just hammering greenfield accounts. The bulk of the business that is being closed is add on/upsell, so the existing customer base you receive will be instrumental in your success here. Trend will always be considered a legacy AV company, so most of the people you're calling on have most likely had a negative/neutral outlook on Trend from past experience. No channel support, no marketing support - truly a sink or swim environment; only a small handful of field reps are successful, solely due to them having one of the handful of trophy accounts that provide an annuity stream of business throughout the course of the year.

    Advice to Management

Take a deeper dive into historical revenue prior to cutting up territories - a territory that closed $40k of new business in 2015 will most likely not have similar success to a neighboring territory that ran $800k in new biz... Sure, on paper you want to find guys to hunt and grow the business, but the company also knows that the bulk of their Enterprise new business is coming from existing Trend shops.

    Pros

    Great Boss, coworker and people

    Cons

Little or no process and there are so many exceptions that it becomes difficult to figure out which is policy and which is exception.
Many a time there is a defined process but just not a central place to find it.

    Advice to Management

Maintain the family feel in the company but do the corporate things needed to stay a corporate

I worked at Trend Micro full-time

    Pros

This was a great company to work for until they decided to move US headquarters to Texas. The idea was that they couldn't compete for talent in Silicon Valley, so they could pay less for staffing in the great, regressive state of Texas (bring your guns with you!). The products and services are solid and always near the top in testing against the competition. Company does more than lip-service with charity work and good corporate citizenship.

    Cons

Penny wise and pound foolish. Replaced rock-solid, veteran S.V. teams with inferior Texans.

    Advice to Management

You get what you pay for...
