I have been working at Trend Micro full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Trend management is very open to change, hearing different ideas, anything that is innovative even disruptive in order to progress the company's objectives. The last couple of years there has been a positive centralization and reining-in of controls, processes and departments, both global and regional. Makes for fewer one-offs and builds stronger brand.

    Cons

Business many times seem to be weak on analytics, guessing at what action to take instead of relying on solid data analysis to help determine the best action. See extremely deep enterprise deal discounts, and rarely receive a cash performance bonus.

I worked at Trend Micro full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay was good. Never questioned expenses.

    Cons

They didn't care about customer retention, only new sales. They have a revolving door policy for all sales reps, however, if you are in a great territory a person can stay there and thrive. If not, your out and a new person is in.

    Advice to Management

Customer retention, building a territory with trust and sales longevity is another way to build a business vs..... how you've been doing it or years.

I worked at Trend Micro full-time

    Pros

Flexible hours in certain departments, well balance in work/life most of the time.

    Cons

Very political, can't focus on the actual work.

    Advice to Management

    Simplify upper management

I have been working at Trend Micro full-time

    Pros

Very good friendly environment within your silo, nice office, global company (get to meet new personalities)

    Cons

'Core Values' is just a page on a site. They do not reflect the true 'Values' which are now changed.

    1. Changes last about 2 to 3 years with always an executive being promoted to a new leading executive role. After the change fails, same movement in upper management takes place and the old executive keeps his/her job and just goes back to the background to collect paycheck
    2. It seems like CEO reads some management review books and decides to use these theories by vaguely implementing them
    3. Can't work from home and management became very strict by following other technology company leaders (Yahoo)
    4. All upper management has been changed to former Third Brigade management or allies to cover their back, being Canadian always helps to land that upper management job
    5. Very little collaboration between RD/Support/Sales/Marketing and teams work in silos
    6. Old Culture is changed and Third Brigade/Canadian culture is brought to the company

    Advice to Management

Where is the CEO? Put a proper CEO in place instead of someone in the family. Give the COO what he wants which is to become CEO

I worked at Trend Micro full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Trend Micro is a stable company with reasonable salary and benefits. Many of my co-workers were co-operative and friendly, and easy to work with.

    Cons

Workforce quality vary by division. In some divisions, many engineers are not productive at all and get along by playing politics. The large projects are typically handled by the overseas offices in Nanjing and Taipei, and also in Canada, leaving few interesting projects in the California offices. Management quality also varies, with many of them playing politics or micro-managing. Since the California divisions are small, and managers stay for a long time, there is also little to no chance for promotions.

    Advice to Management

The company needs to attract good engineers by providing not only a stable environment where engineers simply live by the day, but also challenging projects.

    Pros

Great People to work with ! Very Innovative ideas......great products!

    Cons

Poor management. No accountability; They don't believe in Working from Home; No career path in any role here.

    Advice to Management

Start listening to your employees if you ever want to be successful. You may have innovative ideas however you do not know how to bring them to life....no follow through on anything.
