I have been working at Tribune Media full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Each department has a different dynamic and rules. My group is good. Been here over 5 years. If you work hard, its acknowledged verbally and through your pay.

    Cons

Would be nice to have more flexible working hours and work at home opportunities. Again, each department has its own policies.

    Advice to Management

    Always engage and be transparent.

I worked at Tribune Media full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, attentive EP, good benefits. Nice location. Not a lot of yelling. They are starting to care about staff happiness

    Cons

Understaffed and unable to compete with better stations in town, not a lot of parking. They hire people who aren't super qualified.

    Advice to Management

Be more creative and loyal to viewers

I worked at Tribune Media full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits were good. There were side perks and the position offered some autonomy. I enjoyed my co-workers and there was a good level of camaraderie.

    Cons

There was a lot of workplace politics. Also, I was not great at this job, but there was not a lot of guidance and support to help me do better. Instead management would typically try to motivate me by letting me know my performance wasn't cutting it and fostering a general fear of losing my job.

    Advice to Management

More assistance/training could be provided. Also, it would be good to discover the strengths of each person and focus on utilizing those instead of pushing everyone toward everything. I would be much more inclined toward selling certain packages over others because I could see more value in them myself, but I was pushed to sell things that I could not see much value in at all. Potential customers can see right through that.

    Pros

Big Brand equity, very smart people---ramping up their digital game.

    Cons

Declining legacy business, and the digital products are getting there, but slow to come to market

    Advice to Management

Keep doing a good job of informing employees in these tough times

    Pros

Benefits and hours were great. New blood came in recently so the company has been going through changes, it needed a cleanse, badly.

    Cons

This company's full potential is yet to be reached but TV media is on the decline. Only a merge to digital will rebuild a stable organization.
