I worked at Trimble full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flex hours, insurance benefits, time off accrual

    Cons

Business planning driven by Sales people. Trimble is made up of 50 separate businesses (P&L). Making up many silos of process and thinking. Mid-level management ranks are rife with politics and one-ups manship.

    Advice to Management

Let HR be more than benefits advisors. Stop charging your internal businesses for critical infrastructure improvements with IT. This holds everyone back.

I worked at Trimble full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Can get your hands on many things

    Cons

Management does not know what needs to be done. Bad and old well paid management folks don't want to change for the best for the company and employees, and making wrong decisions. They figure out a way to get transfered from one division to another without being cut. Disaster

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the old bad mangers and find new ones who can take the company to the next level. The company functions like a start-up with a lot of issues.

No room to grow. Hard to ask for the salary adjustment if you are under pay.Too many re-orgs within the departments, sometimes it makes you feel your job is not stable/secure.

I worked at Trimble (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Some business units are market leaders with strong leadership. Some of the businesses solve large, complex problems so it makes your job interesting. Very decentralized so experience depends on what group you're in. In the right business unit it's a great place to work. At its best, you're not micromanaged and the company/managers focus on results. The company culture encourages ethical behavior.

    Cons

Depending on where you work, pay and promotion doesn't always seem tied to performance. There can be an insider/outsider culture. Depending on the business unit, it can be hard to get things done. Compensation could be more competitive.

    Advice to Management

Depending on where you work, there are no obvious career paths. Not all managers are interested in employees' careers. Many of the business units/divisions could work more closely together.
