I have been working at Trinity Consultants full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Entry-level employees do important work, are involved in products submitted to clients/regulatory agencies, and are valued for their input. More tenured employees do not keep their experience secret, and share their knowledge when asked. Stable industry, air regulations are over-complicated and impossible to navigate without help (intro Trinity Consultants!).

    Cons

Not a lot of formal training (all on-the-job), which can make accomplishing work succesfully difficult. Performance is, on a company level (office managers are more understanding), is largely based on achieving 90% billable work, which (1) may not be up to you (no work that you are capable of, as an entry-level, (2) you can't ethically bill (entry-level, you require a lot of training, spend a lot of time spinning... wheels someimtes), (3) by the time you use the restroom on occasion and need time to respond to client/supervisor/peer emails, 90% is not feasible without 45-55 hours of actually work-time. If you are a hands-on kind of person, you will not enjoy air consulting, as you rarely (if ever) get to see the fruits of your labor. It's all kind of ethereal.

    Advice to Management

Air consulting is just such an ambiguous field that it's hard to have formal training (much of permitting is based on un-written experience and un-written precedent dependent on State, EPA Region, and Industry). However, more formal (non-webinar: actual sit-down learn for 2 days or something) training would be encouraging to entry-levels. And just to meet peers would be nice (entry-levels).

I have been working at Trinity Consultants full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Nice coworkers - everyone is friendly and respectful. Questions and challenges are encouraged. Great working environment - standing desk, and spacious office room Working time can be flexible. The company as a whole is focused on air quality and there are plenty of experts in different areas. Quality standards are high compared to competitors.

    Cons

Benefits can be improved. Promotion criteria does not seem to be standard from office to office.

    Advice to Management

Improve benefit package, including 401k matching, and PTO policy for newer consultants.

I have been working at Trinity Consultants full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Comparable benefits for consultants as company employees at the site I work at. Great co-workers - great comraderie. Very interesting work and learning a lot of new things.

    Cons

As a consultant (contractor) there is some of the us vs. them attitude (compared to company employees). Workload can lead to long hours but only getting paid for standard 8 hours/day.
