I worked at Trinity Industries full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Competitive wages and decent benefits package if you choose options carefully. Opportunities are available to "learn as you go" in welding practice.

    Cons

Initiative is not rewarded as supervisors tend to be in cliques and protect their own jobs resorting to unethical practices with documentation and employee interaction. Market forecast is still iffy through end of this year going into '17. Expect hours to fluctuate.

    Advice to Management

Be more involved with daily process rather than just following the reports that are provided at shops as supervisors know how to "fix" the numbers so efficiency and quality metrics aren't used for transparency.

I worked at Trinity Industries (More than a year)

    Pros

Good peers to work with; they hire good talent. Benefits are very good, and bonuses seem to be given to many employees.

    Cons

Employment is very tenuous. The company is still run by the Wallace family and you get crossways with anybody and you are out the door. They will also arbitrarily replace Presidents and other Executives of their Divisions without notice.

    Advice to Management

Before you let somebody go, have an exit interview. Good people are being let go with no cause except a persons whim.

    Pros

Good people working for the company, benefits are ok, big company so there are many locations and positions out there.

    Cons

No clear vision or expectations - too many people saying different things, and therefore those performing the actual work are confused on "what is important". Good ol' boy network runs deep.

    Advice to Management

Decide what you want to be, and then align your values around that.. "Values" that are talked about are only that - talked about. Too many "good ol' boys" assume they "speak for the company" which leads to confusion.

    Pros

Great Benefits and the company's is starting to use electronic everything for documentation which is great.

    Cons

Same "good ol'boy" attitude that is plaguing big business today.

    Pros

    Cons

Groups, Cliques and the Good ol Boy System are all in play here. If you are not a member, you'll be made to quit or fired.
