I worked at TripAdvisor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working with highly competent, high performing teams. Respectful working environment. Dynamic product development.

    Cons

Challenging stretch goals, not necessarily a bad thing!

    Advice to Management

I have a lot of respect for Steve Kaufer, I've learned a lot from him on how to lead and how to grow a mission into a solid company without losing the startup charm.

I worked at TripAdvisor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent salary and travel benefits. Nice office and location and nice people on the whole. Some promotion and bonus opportunities

    Cons

Not many engineers in London, so somewhat left out of the loop. US managers can impose US work ethic (don't take those holidays), and not appreciate your work.

    Pros

Great company, good senior management. Very good salary. Real good benefits. Good training and work environment.

    Cons

Need to improve sales processes and fine tuning the sales product portfolio. Need a sales enablement support in Dublin office. Career path and opportunities need more attention by the company.

    Advice to Management

Work from home bonus days and unpaid annual leave.

I have been working at TripAdvisor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

lunch, gym are probably the only one

    Cons

It could vary depending on your managers, but to many engineers it is getting worse and worse: tremendous pressures, extreme micromanagement, false urgency, endless design reviews, overtime working, impractical LOE, blaming for every imperfection. Bully and fearing are used to "manage". Engineers are not valued as much over years, which is why so many are leaving, and the products are turning less competitive.

    Advice to Management

The working environment is rapidly becoming toxic. Rethink whether "speed wins". Value the backbones of the company, not the ones that "manage".

I have been working at TripAdvisor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great employee benefits and nice offices globally. Most of the people are really smart and great to work with and it's generally a nice environment to work in.

    Cons

Career progression can be somewhat limited.

    Advice to Management

HR business partners in the global offices (outside of headquarters) would help make people feel stronger about career advancement opportunities.

    Pros

Best colleagues, love the culture & the open minded people. Higher management and subordinates works well together.

    Cons

One of the higher level abuse the power of not treating their subordinate right.

    Advice to Management

Better treatment for the staff. Leaders to take responsibility of situations and not blame subordinates.

I worked at TripAdvisor full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

TripAdvisor is a forward thinking company which has fantastic benefits, including health and wellness, which is essential in this day and age. The team I was in was allowed flexi working when needed, which boosted morale.

    Cons

Sometimes it's not possible to have insights into key decisions which directly affect your work and/or commissions (for sales folks), until it's too late too to make any significant adjustments, to be fair. Also not much career progression opportunities

    Advice to Management

Design actionable career paths that is sticky enough for employees to rough out the tough times, with clearly defined progression paths, and to be recognized and rewarded timely, to retain good talent.
