I have been working at Tronox full-time

    Pros

Great benefits! The employees based in OKC are good, friendly people.

    Cons

The company HQ relocated to just outside NYC and built a new executive team (CEO through VPs). Let's just say the East Coast big-city management style hasn't been warmly received.

    Advice to Management

Realize the needs of the company as a whole and not just from a revenue-generation standpoint.

I worked at Tronox full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good pay
    Good work-life balance
    Low-key culture

The benefits were great as well as the balance. It wasn't often that work traveled home with me.

    Cons

    Unionized environment
    Lacking career development program

The union makes it difficult to cause change for good. There wasn't a lot of emphasis in career development.

    Pros

Excellent people to work with, as far as in operations and maintenance on a daily basis. Very safety oriented. Great support from other people when need assistance.

    Cons

Interaction between management and technicians/operators not so great in some areas. Management tends to have "go do this, or" approach for doing things instead of providing background and support and appreciating people for doing things.

    Advice to Management

There are really great and smart people working under the management....just needs to value them.

    Pros

Tronox provides good benefits to both the employee and their families. Sick leave and vacation polices are very good - based on years of experience. Some managers do allow for comp time when you have worked long weeks due to not paying overtime. Tronox provides a 401K match and plans to payout a bonus program in 2012 for the 2011 performance.

    Cons

The downside at working with Tronox is the employee structure. With the current setup, there is not much room for advancement for Process Engineers. Most moves within the plant are only lateral moves. There are few leadership building type roles within the current structure of the plant. When the leadership roles do become available, interviews are not conducted for the jobs - they appointed by site leadership positions. Tronox does not provide cell phones to the process engineers but do expect you to be available at all time through personal cell phones.
