Pros
- You are given ownership and are trusted to drive change and make decisions in your area - Great team of people who are expert in what they do, you will learn a lot from others - Friendly and fun atmosphere with plenty of socialising and events - The people believe in the mission, genuinely care and it’s exciting to see the growth and ideas come to life - Beautiful products! - Fast paced and always evolving
Cons
- It’s a start up so teams are small, and that means you need to get stuck in. Not necessarily a bad thing!

Pros
I enjoyed my time at the company very much. The great thing about interning at a startup such as Trouva is the massive amount you learn, right from day one. No two days are the same and I was never bored. The lovely people and general positive culture really make the company. There is a fantastic sense of collaboration and cross-team coordination, practices that can be hard to come by in many workplaces out there.... Overall, I would highly recommend working at Trouva - as long as you’re prepared to throw yourself in and embrace everything that comes your way, you’ll find it a rewarding place to work.

If you don’t like working at pace or find a little pressure too stressful, this might not be the place for you. As with many tech startups, things can change in an instant, so you have to stay adaptable.

Pros
- Massive flexibility to make the role your own - Everyone engaged to drive the business forward - Founders still play an active role in setting the direction of the business - Very little bureaucracy, definitely given the freedom to get the job done - Good culture of documenting things to try and retain knowledge - Weekly drinks, regular socials, summer and Christmas parties etc..
Cons
- Because there are so many opportunities to explore, strategy can seem a little scattergun with many different project and initiatives on the go making it hard to prioritise - Explosive growth brings the usual problems of scalability vs short term gains, but to be expected from any startup

Pros
I started to work at Trouva almost as year ago and have not looked back since. At Trouva you get full ownership and accountability of your work, you work with fun, smart and very creative people. There are lots of great initiatives going on and this company is growing at an impressive rate. It really is inspiring to be part of a mission that is being executed so successfully! The company really provides a... dynamic working environment - Lots of benefits included, free breakfast, flexible working hours and great team building initiatives.

Not many but if needed to pick one, there has been a quite high turnover of staff but I believe that when working in a start up this is often what happens until the team is established and settled.

Pros
It's not often you get to be part of a business that is experiencing such phenomenal growth and is truly on the cusp of becoming "the next big thing". The environment is dynamic and innovative - teams are constantly trying new things and there's lots of autonomy and proactivity. Pursuing an opportunity or area for improvement is actively encouraged and you won't come up against the red tape or long approval chains... of larger corporate (aided by a very open, flat structure). Crucially, a good work-life balance is also really respected at Trouva (particularly compared to other early stage high-growth start-ups I've experienced). People here work very hard but benefit from flexible working hours and don't hang around until ungodly hours in the office!
Show MoreCons
As a start-up, Trouva is fast paced and there is inevitably lots of changes to processes, projects and priorities. To succeed here you need to be able to adapt very quickly and easily.

Pros
A passionate, engaged team who care about the company's mission - to help independent boutiques thrive online. Good strategy and they communicate it, organised, well structured processes. Great place for those who are proactive in their day-to-day jobs and careers. They are getting into weekly yoga and meditation sessions, and the company seems to love baking for each other!
Cons
No big cons. It is a company, there are always challenges. It is a start up, there is always lots to do.

Pros
You have full autonomy on your area and you are encouraged to try new things. The structure is fairly flat with no real hierarchy. Senior leadership are readily available and the people across the company are great - friendly and smart. I love the fast paced nature of the growth. We're constantly getting great PR and growing quickly so you feel like you're building something people care about.
Cons
Change is inevitable and it comes quickly so if you're not comfortable with that it can be a challenge

Pros
I worked hard, learned a huge amount and was given lots of responsibility. I also really believe in what Trouva is building, which made the whole thing feel meaningful.
Cons
Trying to figure out a new thing means making lots of mistakes and having to deal with them
Advice to Management
- Try not to reprioritise too often. - Continual growth buys time to do all the rest of the more important stuff; never forget that phrase. - Go forth and make my share options meaningful! ;)

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookI worked at Trouva full-time for more than a year
Pros
Many of the employees are very nice people. Fast paced for those who like a challenge. Nice office space and good coffee (as with most startups)
Cons
I worked at Trouva for over a year and while the challenging nature of the startup environment was rewarding at times, it was also cut throat and intense. The staff regularly burn out from the unrealistic expectations placed on them by their line managers, who are not trained in how to manage workloads and deal with overworked employees. There is a serious culture of unacknowledged melt downs at Trouva, I knew at... least seven people who suffered burn out in silence during my time there. This is not normal. Targets are constantly changing and goalposts are being moved which makes it feel impossible to succeed, which makes Trouva a very demoralising place to work. There is no praise given to hard workers (a Golden Pineapple ceremony once a week is hardly enough) and the massive pressure you are put under to constantly overachieve is in no way compensated by the very poor salary you're given which is below industry standard. You move from one project on to another without properly evaluating what worked well and what didn't because of lack of time, which means that processes rarely improve. The workload is far too high for such a small team, top level management really need to lessen their unhealthy 'take over the world' mentality. There is also a terrible culture of hiring and firing which showcases a real disregard for the value of employees. People seem to be set up to fail, with probation periods being extended with no explanation (I knew one employee who was on probation for nine months simply because the company didn't want to pay them full time) and people being let go at the drop of a hat for no reason other than lack of budget planning and the higher ups' inability to put a proper business plan in place. Even though the independent spirit and exciting mission of this company seemed impressive to begin with, I hated working here by the end. Don't let the fake Glassdoor reviews fool you, Trouva is not a good place to work. The atmosphere is toxic, the management is poor and there is a real culture of lies and negativity masquerading as fun startup times.

Seriously rethink how you treat the people you employ, otherwise you'll drive out all of the talent you have left and word about Trouva being a toxic workplace will spread.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookI worked at Trouva full-time for more than a year
Pros
- You learn a lot through being given zero support by your line managers
Cons
- Micromanagement by megalomaniacs - No empathy with the people who are helping to run your business - Hire and fire culture by people who don’t know what they’re looking for in an employee
Advice to Management
- Stop trying to blame fast-paced, start-up culture for your lack of managerial skills and common sense. - Try not to make your fake reviews too obvious next time
