I have been working at Troy University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

BCBS Health Insurance, Retirement Fund, 50% paid tuition after one year of employment available, sick leave and annual leave accrual, potential for advancement

    Cons

LOW PAY! Very little training is prepared for a new employee, takes weeks to get all your logins for computer use and the gossip between other secretaries is high.

    Advice to Management

Advertise your starting pay with the job listing when the pay is non-negotiable. Job seekers won't waste their time if they know in advance. It is no wonder people don't stay in these positions.

I worked at Troy University (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I learned a great deal at Troy and had truly incredible colleagues who went above and beyond for their students and for me. Troy is a gem in the Tampa market.

    Cons

Disparity among staff members doing their fair share. Lack of basic computer skills in some was acceptable for their seemingly charming personality. Constant dissemination of incorrect information

    Advice to Management

Bring things back to local office.

I have been working at Troy University part-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule, overall nice co-workers and relatively easy work.

    Cons

When you are a new employee there is no training, no handbook, no guidelines, no standards, no rules... nothing. I have never dealt with a University that had so little to offer with regard to structure and organization. The courses seem to be haphazardly put together with no real thought behind it. It is a degree mill, unfortunately. It does not seem that the students are truly worth more than the money they spend to the institution. For an adjunct position, it is so much more work than the compensation if you actually want to be a good instructor and care about your students. Onboarding was a nightmare with no orientation, information on how things work at this University, etc. Nothing. If I didn't constantly ask questions, I wouldn't have had my tax paperwork, ID card, parking pass, etc. I have had to be the person to manage and navigate being an employee there with little guidance, just really good guessing. No employee, certainly not one being paid so little, should have to do that. It was like feeling around in the dark since day one.

I worked at Troy University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great working environment, team work as family, really nice campus and a lot of possibilities to move around.

    Cons

hiring freeze right now, salary and benefits are not that great but if you live in the area, it can be alright.

    Advice to Management

Believe in your people and motivate them by increase or more benefits because they have the potential to do great but unfortunately there is a huge waste of potential.
