Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

    Fun Environment, Good Coworkers

    Pros

Reviews are often not very stressful to clients, so the roles are not particularly high stress as they are with other times of industries. They hire young smart people who are fun to work with, I made a lot of good friends.

    Cons

Not a ton of room for growth at the company, or to move around too much. Also some clients don't care about reviews, and therefore you have to work very hard to get their attention.

    Toxic Environment

Nov 4, 2021 - Account Executive in Denver, CO

    Business Outlook

    Pros

I learned a lot about high volume B2B SaaS sales which inherently instilled some grit and grind in my work ethic. There were some good people working with me but they never lasted long. The end product is good and affordable (for software). This had the potential to be a great job if the right people were in leadership cultivating a healthier/safer culture and work environment. It's a decent opportunity for a BDR right out of college to learn how to work efficiently, hunt, prospect, and other basics of an entry level sales role then find an opportunity to sell somewhere else where you can really develop your career.

    Cons

I knew within my first 2 days that I had made a HUGE mistake in being there. - The culture is very toxic (think "Frat" meets "Wolf of Wall Street" but no one is making any money). - There's a lack of professionalism across the board. - Sales leaders are resistant to change when the status quo is clearly not working and targets are consistently missed. - No accountability of management. - Condescending and patronizing leadership and communication styles from management. - Leadership leans into the same playbook that has never proven to work. - Little opportunity for growth and development. - An AE had better odds of being put on a plan than hitting a single monthly quota in their first year.

    People Business Partner

At Trustpilot, we understand the importance of both positive and negative feedback. Responding to negative reviews can present a great opportunity to show your employees and customers that you care, and make meaningful changes to the way you do business. We recommend this to our own customers, and something we of course action ourselves as a business. While we are confident that Trustpilot is a great place to work, we recognize that there’s always room for improvement. However, we have reason to believe that the author of this review was not an employee of Trustpilot and therefore that the review does not reflect a genuine experience. This is for the following reasons: - The review is written from the perspective of an ex-employee of Trustpilot. The tone of the review is inconsistent with the feedback received from those who had left our Sales team in Denver. Our most recent leaver at the time this review was posted had left Trustpilot on 1 July 2021, and their departure was amicable. - The reviewer uses language which reflects a limited knowledge of Trustpilot and our internal teams. For example, the reviewer refers to our Account Development Representatives (ADRs in the US market) as BDRs. This error would not have been made by a Trustpilot employee. We respect Glassdoor’s decision to leave this review online, but wanted to tell our side of the story. If you want to find out more about working at Trustpilot, feel free to check out our website for current vacancies.

US will always come second or last

Apr 27, 2022 - Anonymous Employee in New York, NY

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - The people, the US office is full of excellent people. - There is lots of opportunity for the product, companies that utilize the product and provide quality service typically love it. - The backbone of the business being about trust and transparency helps keep the job feeling worthwhile. - Depending on the department you can still have a good time and learn (there just might not be a lot of future growth). So if you want to come in and be an individual contributor, it is not a bad place to be. You can make money in sales and the BDR team is a good place to start a career if you are ready to hustle.

    Cons

    - The company does not care about the US market or US offices. - Rarely listens to US employee thoughts or requests - If you want to get promoted you need to be in finance because all promotions need CFO approval (it seems every promotional period most of the finance department is bumped up a level) - The company instituted job architecture to try and promote equality and put in place salary bands. This mostly just allowed management to say employees were already getting paid at the high end of the band. If there was not a job level for you to move into, it was nearly impossible for your boss to create a new job level for you. - Senior leadership kept promoting job architecture like it was going to be great for the employees but it seems to compartmentalize groups of employees to keep them from moving up. - Product team turnover, no one stays in the product team which means the direction keeps changing and things are slow to get fixed. - Marketing turnover every year or so. With a new person in charge of marketing their first focus is typically Europe, so it is a constant battle to get any attention in the US
