I worked at Turkey Hill Dairy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Regular hours and good pay. I only worked in the dairy for a summer, but I enjoyed the people I worked with. As much THD products you want on your break!

    Cons

The shifts were not flexible, but this is a problem typical to most factories in general rather than this specific institution.

I have been working at Turkey Hill Dairy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Turkey Hill Dairy is a great place to work for a variety of reasons. The company cares for its employees, as shown by the great safety culture and the variety of free optional on-site training programs offered throughout the year. The pay is average to competitive (depending on the position), and there is opportunity to advance or transfer to other positions either within Turkey Hill Dairy or Kroger (since Turkey Hill Dairy is owned by Kroger). Turkey Hill Dairy is growing, so the outlook of the company looks bright.

    Cons

The goals of management are in the right place, but the implementation and methods of certain programs and ideas are questionable at times. Some line jobs can be very repetitive, but this is to be expected of some jobs in the realm of manufacturing. Work/life balance can be an issue with employees in production and some warehouse jobs.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and recognize that there is a lot of talent and tacit knowledge located internally. Review the implementation and methods in which projects are completed with employees before the implementation of such projects begin.

    Pros

Great work environment. Coworkers do not treat you like an intern, they treat you with the same respect they give to the full time employees. The work they give you isn't intern work. They give you big projects to work on and give you the chance to impact the company.

    Cons

I don't have anything bad to say about the company.

I have been working at Turkey Hill Dairy full-time

    Pros

Stable company offering opportunity to invest in yourself with training. New management that cares about positive change and associates alike

    Cons

Be prepared to adjust on the fly but not necessarily a bad thing. No real negatives other than complete each task entirely before moving on to next one

    Advice to Management

Keep investing in the associates and understand the need for change to stay competitive in the marketplace

I worked at Turkey Hill Dairy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Easy work, if you don't want any challenges. People that work there are easy to manipulate into doing your work.

    Cons

Low pay and no intellectual stimulation leaves this company cold and lifeless.
Just a bunch of drones doing their masters bidding. Very dull.

    Advice to Management

Try to look for more diversity in your work force. Not everyone is happy just getting by.

I have been working at Turkey Hill Dairy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits are good, the commute to Conestoga is nice when you're not behind a trash truck. The people I work with every day are genuine and they care about the work they do. Work / life balance is good.

    Cons

The company seems to be struggling with how to grow sustainably. Base pay is less than comparable positions in the area.

    Advice to Management

Forget about the org chart once in a while and engage with your associates regularly in open and honest communication about the things they care about.

    Pros

The pay is great, job security of the best product being produced in Lancaster County which is expanding everyday and uniforms are provided. Plus if you know the right people and get in good with them you have a great chance of advancing quickly especially if you're packing a college degree.

    Cons

Work lots of days during the summer due to demand of ice cream consumption, which is physically and emotionally draining. The paychecks are slamming though, but no time to spend all the money I make.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to listen to employees complaints, ideas and concerns instead of taking off with the first sentence out of their mouth and going on with your own point of view. Listen to and act on the employee's issue. Plus deal with an issue at the time it happens with the employee who is violating a policy instead of handling it at a later time in a group. Usually that person isn't even there or thinks nothing of it because they don't see themselves as a violator.
