I have been working at Turlock Irrigation District full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Generous pay and benefits plus relatively low cost of living for California. A lot of departments have union representation which can be advantageous when it comes to negotiating benefits for everyone.

    Cons

Not exactly a diverse place in some departments which feeds into being a good ole boys club and being difficult to get in to. It is getting better though.

  2. Helpful (1)

"Very good place to work, great benefits, friendly atmosphere, only issue is internal politics common to public entities."

    Pros

There was a lot of freedom and it was nice working outside. I enjoyed my coworkers, and the job wasn't overly difficult

    Cons

Management was not very good, didn't seem to care too much about their employees. There was a revolving door of people because of it
