I have been working at Turning Stone full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly co-workers, PTO good, benefits good.

    Cons

Advancement is very poor, Too much nit-picking, Was told that they will not chase competitive wages. Will not pay according to living wage. Loyalty for employees is very poor. 10 years employee trreated same as 1 year employee. zero appreciation for any good job. Work only hard enough to not lose your job anything over that and never recognized. poor mamangement skills and communication.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees with respect and value your loyal workers or employees will leave at the slightest increase in pay, maybe even for slightest better benefits. Especially when you have 2 competing casinos opening near you. Pay employees more and they will rise to the occasion when dealing with work and customers. Otherwise don't be surprised when your employees are rude to customers and have no care for their workplace.

I have been working at Turning Stone (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly coworkers, PTO good after years, holiday pay, health benefits decent.

    Cons

Rude management, lot of undermining for your experience level, too much nitpicking when productivity is way down. Uptight upper management.

    Advice to Management

Need to focus on boosting morale in your department rather then belittling and nitpicking your employees. No one appreciates anything you do only complains.

I worked at Turning Stone full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I met some great people. The benefits are good. The 401k match is fantastic. Human resources does a fantastic job putting together employee programs.

    Cons

The benefits started out fantastic and have worked their way down to acceptable. Every year it seemed that more and more was taken away. In 21 years I learned very little about the gaming business, as I have discovered since leaving. Casino management has become petty and promotes based on looks and not on experience or ability. If you are good at stroking egos you will do well working in table games.

    Advice to Management

Shed the "my way or the highway" mentality and let top 10% do their thing.

I have been working at Turning Stone part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pros – Good team work depending on the department you're in. Usually will work with your schedule. Decent benefits.

    Cons

Benefits for part time employees are slim, including PTO. Rarely get pay raises or incentives even if you have worked there a long time or have good reviews. Required to work weekends and most holidays. Don't offer sick days and will take away PTO days if you call in. Rarely encourages personal growth or doesn't give the means to do so. Not very concerned with the health of their employees or how the job duties affect the health of their employees.

    Advice to Management

    – Offer more incentives to work. Give annual raises. Give sick days and more PTO days.

I worked at Turning Stone full-time

    Pros

Employee cafeteria, good 401k and healthcare

    Cons

Bureaucracy at its finest. Pay is not great and management doesn't convey how best to move up and increase pay. They will only increase pay if you tell them you are leaving, this company will not go above and beyond to make you happy. Miserable place to work with all of the smokers and less than happy gamblers. Verona - who wants to work in Verona? The executives expect everyone to kiss their feet.

I worked at Turning Stone (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Made good friends and connections, memorable experiences and many stories to tell.

    Cons

Hours were excessive, employees frequently thrown under the bus, heavy favoritism, advancement is much faster if you are male, management at the time was abusive...is no longer employed there, so I don't know how new management compares.

    Advice to Management

Please remember that employees are people too!

I worked at Turning Stone part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very good earning potential, decent benefits. Scheduling can be flexible. Entertaining atmosphere. Excellent work experience to lead to other careers.

    Cons

Extremely inconsistent management. Promotions for major positions tend to come from outside the company. No regard for home life. They let the customers get away with abusing staff far more than they should.

    Advice to Management

Make your middle management positions attractive enough to allow you to hire qualified people, who care about their jobs. This in turn will allow you to more easily promote from within, and cultivate a more positive culture for your lower level employees.

I have been working at Turning Stone full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A family like relationship with coworkers. Flexible with scheduling. PTO.

    Cons

Below average pay, encouraged to be "team players" and help each other out yet get criticized when you try and do so. Upper management draws a curtain to things that go on. They don't understand nor do they care.

Little to no chance for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. They are the one's dealing with the public. NOT YOU.

I worked at Turning Stone (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It was a job. They gave us some free perks, like a hotel stay and massages to review. As well as prizes like gas card, pedicure, etc... for winning monthly challenges. Some coworkers were nice, but it was very gossipy.

    Cons

There have been little to no raises in recent years. It seems like they spent the money on a parade float for the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade and the new addition of Exit 33 instead of giving raises to lower level employees (some managers still received raises). A lot of people were upset about that, and the good employees either gave up trying or left.

There were little opportunities for career advancement.

The management micromanages and rarely backs you up if a guest has a problem. It seemed like they would rather give the guest anything they want to shut them up than follow the rules the rep had been advising the guest of. Also departments are more than happy to take the word of the guest over other departments and blame the other department. It happened many times where the guest was confused or straight out lied about what they were advised of. They normally got what they wanted even if the reservation was noted to the contrary. Turn over is high. The offices are very small and gossipy.

    Advice to Management

Back up reps and start doing annual raises again for everyone not just management.
