I have been working at Tusculum College full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and excellent PTO benefits!! Offers free tuition after a year of service to spouse and children for an undergraduate degree. Offers Aflac.

    Cons

Doesn't pay well. They don't treat their employees well and communication is terrible. Will not pay for a graduate degree to spouse or children.

I have been working at Tusculum College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Centrally located, cheap, but again, cheap tuition yields poor education for most people, avoid at all costs.

    Cons

Level of education offered is the major con, don't waste your money, find a better school. Just because they are the oldest school in TN doesn't make them good... would you want the oldest doctor in the state performing your surgery, no.

    Advice to Management

Fire all the staff and adjunct staff and seek proficient educators. Simple as that.

    Pros

Small Place that could have family feel

    Cons

Small and unprofessional and secluded and don't know what they are doing.

    Advice to Management

Give appreciation, pay increases, communicate with employees who are
trying their best to care for students! Its human resource 101 anywhere else!

I have been working at Tusculum College (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good schedule. Prompt payment. Engaged students.

    Cons

Adjuncts are kinda left on their own with little support. IT needs in classroom are antiquated.

    Advice to Management

Upgrade elearning platform. More staff - adjunct involvement.

    Pros

    Small college so close-net community

    Cons

Non professional Administration promoting unqualified individuals and showing complete disrespect to knowledgeable and experienced faculty and staff & over work and extremely underpaid

    Advice to Management

Not a giod place to work

I worked at Tusculum College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Dedicated employees who care about their work; a close-knit community; supportive division directors; PTO time is very generous; two week paid holiday at Christmas; senior leadership and board members seem to genuinely care about the welfare of the students, faculty, and staff

    Cons

Salaries are less than comparable institutions in the region; college is tuition driven which means revenue can be uncertain at times

    Advice to Management

There are some dedicated professionals working for the college who often go unrecognized. Continue to be student focused and make sure programs that are offered are both beneficial to the students and fill a need for the region.

I have been working at Tusculum College (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Students get hands on experience and marketable skills

    Cons

Decision Making by Upper Management has caused the college to be in a non-competitive position

    Advice to Management

Get some outside business individuals on staff

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Tusculum College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Faculty and staff are very nice
-Work and life balance are wonderful

    Cons

-Salary is above average for the small town but not adequate when compared to the cost of living increases in the area and when compared to neighboring, larger cities
-Not much room for advancement, can take several years to move up into a higher position due to the small campus
-Benefits are costly since it is a small college

  10. "I absolutely love the students, but the way administration treats faculty and staff is appalling."

I have been working at Tusculum College (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Faculty and staff are wonderful. The campus is beautiful. In my opinion you could not find a better sense of community within the two groups.

    Cons

Administrative support is lacking, there is virtually no communication on plans for the college. Faculty meetings are a joke. Why vote on some things if the board and administration is going to do whatever they want anyway? Faculty have no power.

    Advice to Management

Take a step back. Stop making uneducated guesses. Instead of firing people who are valuable to the college look at alternative ways to balance the massive budget that you have gotten us into.

    Advice to Management

Need better planning and better compensation for RA staff.
