I worked at Tusculum College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are no pros for Tusculum College.

    Cons

Administration is terrible. They are overpaid and allow a toxic culture to take place. Do not work here. Much better opportunities elsewhere for faculty.

    Advice to Management

    Too many administrators and agendas.

I worked at Tusculum College full-time

    Pros

The students are exceptionally kind and fellow faculty and staff despite being browbeat, work hard to help students.

    Cons

The pay is far below par even for the region. The administration functions more like a dictatorship than faculty governance. Staff and faculty alike are constantly afraid of being fired for speaking up or working to improve campus. Placing blame is rewarded more than problem solving. Politics trump competence. Fiscal mis-management is rampant. There haven't been raises in nearly 10 years. Faculty have no professional development funds, nor do staff. Stay away.

The college has been losing money for years with no end in sight.

    Advice to Management

Resign and let more qualified people lead.

I worked at Tusculum College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Solid faculty. Great facilities. Great location.

    Cons

Terrible administration. Faculty are intimidated and left fearful of termination. Political correctness is the chief virtue of the administration. Male faculty are especially targeted for intimidation.

    Advice to Management

Terminate the entire administration. Drop athletics. Undertake a complete financial reform of the college. Do more to reach "regular" students in northeast Tennessee.

I have been working at Tusculum College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Centrally located, cheap, but again, cheap tuition yields poor education for most people, avoid at all costs.

    Cons

Level of education offered is the major con, don't waste your money, find a better school. Just because they are the oldest school in TN doesn't make them good... would you want the oldest doctor in the state performing your surgery, no.

    Advice to Management

Fire all the staff and adjunct staff and seek proficient educators. Simple as that.

    Pros

Small Place that could have family feel

    Cons

Small and unprofessional and secluded and don't know what they are doing.

    Advice to Management

Give appreciation, pay increases, communicate with employees who are
trying their best to care for students! Its human resource 101 anywhere else!

    Pros

Good benefits and excellent PTO benefits!! Offers free tuition after a year of service to spouse and children for an undergraduate degree. Offers Aflac.

    Cons

Doesn't pay well. They don't treat their employees well and communication is terrible. Will not pay for a graduate degree to spouse or children.
