I worked at Tutor Perini full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great benefits with stability and corporate support. I enjoyed having the design/build capabilities and being a part of historic, large scale projects.

    Cons

Lack of understanding with regards to pleasing client. While there are so many knowledgeable and capable people working for Tutor Perini, their personnel is diluted with far too many liability type who have profound impacts on project success.

    Advice to Management

I recommend having a bit more humility and flexibility with clients, you’re not the only outfit capable of doing huge commercial projects. The reckless “cowboy” mentality of some field personnel needs corporate oversight as it has a negative impact on project level

I have been working at Tutor Perini full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

They really pay well, it's the only reason I am still here.

    Cons

To upper management you are only a number to be discarded after they use and abuse you. The philosophy is to screw the owner over at every turn and then go to court to get paid. You will be lied to and asked to lie for them almost daily. Every problem on the job is a subcontractors or the owners fault. If something goes wrong, they are quick to place blame on anyone but themselves. They are routinely featured on...

    Pros

Camaraderie among co-workers, non -management is good. The meat and potatoes of the Philadelphia office.

    Cons

No managed direction. Not enough recognition for the support personnel.

I worked at Tutor Perini full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Competitive Pay (That’s offset by the amount of hours they’ll work you. But every department and location is different so your experience may vary).

    Cons

Horrible culture. Company is ran by an old boys club that verbally and mentally abuses their subordinates. This has a trickle down affect throughout the company. Corporate is extremely toxic and depressing.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with dignity and respect. You can’t demand loyalty. Stop flying in your private Boeing 737 and spend money updating the hideous green carpet and green marble from the 80’s.

I worked at Tutor Perini full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You’ll enter an industry willing to involve you in new opportunities with a decent pay. Staying vigilant and working independently is a must especially with this company. If you know the skills you possess and are able to bring it to the table, you will not have any issues. A head strong attitude and ability to handle critical feedback, you’ll make it and the work is worth it.

    Cons

Don’t expect anything in reward. This company is pure production and will demonize and put you down the minute they seek a weakness. Don’t expect any form of proper training. You either have the experience or you don’t. Employee evaluation consists of you sitting down in the office with your boss telling you your mistakes that have occurred in the past 6 months and expect them to be fixed in a month. Read your employee...

    Advice to Management

Improve your morale. Appreciate your employees. Stop creating false promises to those who want to gain skills and especially do not set your employees up to fail on any given task. If you don’t possess the tools to provide proper training, do not set them up for a skill that will hinder them. Don’t base their performance on whether or not they “ask questions”. If they don’t know the skills, how will the employee know...

    Pros

Decent pay other than medical costs taking away from your salary as it is so costly, work is done with minimal to no supervision, 7-4pm daily with no OT unless you want to work OT.

    Cons

TERRIBLE medical, dental, and vision insurance. No bonuses, no incentives other than one 10% raise in 3 years.
