    Have to wait awhile for any career advancement.

    Pros

    Great Benefits, retirement / pension plan, time off, training both class room style and hands on, great co-workers.helpful in obtaining PE license.

    Cons

    Pay isn't as great as the private sector, lack of leadership within the office at times, lack of staff due to hiring freezes.

    On February 25, 2016, the Texas Transportation Commission adopted new values, vision, mission, and goals to guide the department’s strategic direction. The updated strategic direction includes the development of performance-based planning and programming processes, measures, and metrics.

    Cons

    learnt new things and challenges through team-building and a review of applicable laws and regulations, sometimes can't get through.

    Pros

    Great benefits, people, and opportunities. Provide tons of training and resources to advance people and careers. Lots of opportunities for growth.

    Cons

    It's the government so pay is slightly less than the private sector, but not significantly less. State sometimes subject to hiring/pay freezes, but always temporary

    Continue to provide and advocate training and providing opportunities for advancement
