    I worked at Tyco full-time

    Pros

It was a great company to work for in the beginning, great benefits, salary and work/ life balance. Also a great learning experience as there was a ton of acquisitions and mergers that grew the company.

    Cons

Before Tyco became Johnson Controls they kept shrinking through spin offs but the employees were never explicitly told that they were gearing up to be bought out so the in the last years the atmosphere changed and it was not a pleasant place to work.

    Advice to Management

Not sure about new management as the company was bought by Johnson Controls shortly after I left

I worked at Tyco full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It was a good opportunity to learn and take on additional responsibilities. The constant change within the organization created career paths.

    Cons

The culture was very tough. It was a decentralized organization that had a desire to create a culture of continuous improvement and also pivot to R&D simultaneously.

    Advice to Management

Create a better vehicle to communicate with the field.

I have been working at Tyco full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Plenty of opportunity to meet great clients, design solutions and stretch goals and thinking.
Commission potential makes up for the below industry average salary.

    Cons

Communication from Install and Service Departments to clients is continual struggle, oftentimes causing Sales Rep's day to be filled with putting out fires rather than productively seeking new business.

    Advice to Management

Ask frontline Sales what is working. Many practices in place are antiquated and ineffective. Just because "that's the way things have always been done," doesn't mean they work. Embrace change.

I worked at Tyco as a contractor

    Pros

Great team of people - great opportunity within the organization and productive work environment always a positive intiative and meaningful work especially for those learning the operations of a business.

    Cons

Some managers are inexperienced and take on personal feelings to determine how work should be conducted. Some of these behaviors are overlooked by senior management to appease employees with tenure. Needs more structure and better processes to make operations more effective. Communication is one-sided.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what is really happening within the department, even more closely to the skill set and experience of those put in place to manage. Address bottlenecks and coach managers on how to be effective leaders. The organization would improve in areas it is lacking if these small areas of concern are addressed.

    Advice to Management

Make sure the Sales Mangers are available even after the sale closes
