    Pros

3 days off and the insurance.

    Cons

This company is called River Valley Ingredients, but is owned by Tyson. The work environment, and the management are the cons. That pretty much knocks out everything. This plant isn't ran by Tyson standards. "Maintenance (workers) aren't essential" came out of the plant manager's mouth. That's the most dumb thing a PLANT MANAGER could say. You're asked to do dangerous things. If OSHA sent an undercover guy in, this place would be shut down.

Tyson Foods is a Toxic Place

Mar 25, 2021 - General Maintenance Mechanic in Storm Lake, IA

    Pros

Paid Holidays (some) Many job opportunities and Learning experience with different careers.

    Cons

They don't really care about your health like they say they do, during covid they preached about our safety as their number one priority, they preached the " Stay 6ft apart" but while working there was no 6ft apart. One day they asked some of us to help with Building Maintenance, in doing so we had to wipe tables in Tysons food cafeteria, This day i had a bad cough and sore throat, and a major headache. Remind you we are wiping tables in an area where people (workers) are constantly eating. I felt weird coughing in an area where people would eat. I coughed near this one lady and she made a face and picked up her plate and just walked away. I was trying to hold it in but it just came out. I felt bad, so I went to ask my supervisor if he could remove me from that section and his reply was " We don't have the luxury to be moving people from place to place, You're just going to have to be careful where you cough". Because he would not remove me I went to speak with a nurse and got sent home. Spoke with my doctor and even he said he saw symptoms of sickness and tested me for covid, I was out for a week till my results came back and after returning to work they fired me even with a doctor's excuse. This day I spoke with Hr and that same Supervisor along with another green hat. If you truly cared about your worker's safety, you would have removed me that day from preventing me to pass any sickness to other employees who were eating at that cafeteria and you wouldn't have fired someone for having a doctor's excuse!!! But the biggest part here is YOU ARE A FOOD COMPANY! Who are one of the BIGGEST Food Companies out there and this was youre trust in leadership? The cons Are This Company is a greed company and as many benefits as they offer, and as much as they say they care about YOURE Safety, They do not. While working at Tyson there were many people who were catching Covid and I wouldn't be surprised if they get hit with a lawsuit soon.
