Great Working Environment Hindered by Passivity

      Pros

Opportunity to learn and succeed seems to hide around every corner as an intern, and this job rewards curiosity and a can-do attitude. Pay is good, and reasonable off-time is accepted and respected. Hours are flexible and benefits are available quickly after a potential hire. Tyson team members genuinely care about the welfare of others. Managers are understanding and intentionally accepting. Most team members are cooperative and respect your time. I feel like there's something special about working here. Culture is generally supportive and hard-working. Discrimination or harassment isn't present, and people are easy-going and even fun; expect to laugh and enjoy the occasional awkward meeting.

      Cons

Near-absent or irrelevant on-boarding program for interns. Internships are devoid of most structure and the inconsistent assignments can sometimes feel ambivalent. Career opportunities and job offers within the organization aren't discussed openly and it's difficult to understand where you can fit within the organization even after months of work. Broader responsibility for distribution activities aren't incentivized effectively and this causes a lot of little problems to pile up and important tasks to be overlooked. Senior management is heavy-handed with their initiatives and demonstrate little patience for financial difficulties which burdens teams unnecessarily with factors often beyond their control; this creates a fatalistic outlook at times to broader decisions by senior management and possibly limits team members from innovating in their positions. Reorganizations can be difficult and don't consider tenure. Growth seems to be a quarterly topic instead of a continuing discussion. I've seen some team members have to work nights and weekends when things break, but normally there's enough time in the day to finish work.

      OK Job

      Pros

Meeting a diverse group of drivers. Great work schedule. Always changing. Good pay.

      Cons

Needs better job requirements. (No one is required to even have a high school diploma which makes managing some employees a little difficult) Can have blame placed on you just so someone can be held accountable even if its not you. No union representation. You are on your own. Easily replaceable.
