I have been working at U-Haul full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pros are being self motivated and driven to work at your own pace as long as the duties and objectives of the job get completed.

    Cons

Cons are seemingly being on call 12-14 hours a day from independent locations. Telephone calls can become increasingly excessive and communication between parties within the organization seems to lag or there is no clear direction from all parties involved.

    Advice to Management

Would like to see more opportunities for advancing upward.

I have been working at U-Haul full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to move upward, laterally, and from field to the corporate offices.
    Good benefits.
    Very involved CEO.
Lots of current higher up leadership started from bottom and understand those beneath their charge.

    Cons

More interfacing to current trends such as a zip care style truck share program.
    More equipment to rent.
Customer service work can involve challenging customers and situations.

    Advice to Management

More equipment= More customers serviced= Less impact on American Families immigrating across America & Canada.

    Pros

With the work at a center or is an area field manager every day every week is different just with all the customers that we see and issues that your face on a daily basis. Especially just trying to help families complete their move with her it is around the corner or across the country

    Cons

In the moving field you try to help that every customer as much as possible but there are some times in which she just cannot solve the problem and you do have to deal with very angry customers majority of the time the other bad thing is it upper management you have to work six days a week and only having one day off

    Advice to Management

Try to have it to where you have more than just one day off a week

    I worked at U-Haul full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

if u want to be a slave

    Cons

working 60+ hours and 6 days a week. then the only day off they still want u to take phone calls. YOU ARE OWNED and they don't approve few days to spend with your family. So much promises and never been delivered. I was hired and told to work 55 hours and 5 days a week with 1 Saturday a month and it was a lie. Also I faced discrimination bc of my background.

    Advice to Management

Don't lie and treat employees as humans.

I have been working at U-Haul full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you work hard, it's like any other job where you will be recognized and rewarded. Stable job and lots of promotion opportunities.

    Cons

Constant management changes require a lot of flexibility. More and more micro management makes everyday tasks much more difficult and stressful.

    Advice to Management

Don't fix what's already working. Allow those who are successful in their positions run with it. Those that are not meeting goals should be worked with individually instead of blanket "fixes".

    I worked at U-Haul full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay, great learning experience that carries over to other jobs, great co-workers, company vehicle, you decide what you will do each day, meeting new people, company pays a potion of you cell phone bill, job related expenses are reimbursed, performance compensation program in addition to your salary, opportunities for promotions, pay increases, and transfer possibilities.

    Cons

Working Saturdays, sometimes company expectations are unreasonable and affect your job and relationships with your locations, working outdoors in the weather, locations call your personal phone anytime they have an issue everyday of the week and when you are on vacation, maintain standards that are almost impossible at times, if you are not careful you can get behind for the month and not be able to catch up.

    Advice to Management

Don't set such high standards, stop making employees work on saturdays.

I have been working at U-Haul full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers and staff, Amazing benefits. Company is trying to grow in the right direction. And upper management seems to genuinely care about employees healthy living and lifestyles as the company pays TONS of money on its employees through the company paid medical coverage.

    Cons

Poor communication to field employees of new policies and programs. The POS system is always changing and issues with the companies servers cause mass issues on busy weekends and holidays and the customer is already stressed out and get upset at us in the field and we are unable to help them.

    Advice to Management

Invest in better computer hardware and wifi networks if you intend to complete the change over to mobile dispatch. Provide an option to authorized dealers to get mobile devices to service customers.
