    I have been working at U-Haul full-time

    Pros

Flexible hours being a manager only if your store is running smoothly

    Cons

Low pay for the issues/workload you deal with
    Upper management is a joke
    No belief in work/life balance
    Bonus structure is subpar

    Advice to Management

“Cut the fat”. This company could become much more profitable if they were to remove the excessive positions within the upper management.
Increase prices to help with revenue instead of trying to rely solely of increased transactions to drive profit.
Provide better compensation for management, these centers don’t function without us.
Invest in better IT/software personnel as the current structure is a joke at best.
Follow through of promises of career advancement. There really isn’t any room in this company to grow upwards without sacrificing more than is necessary.

    Cons

Work environment depends on the manager, usually short staffed when busy

    Advice to Management

    Provide training for managers.

    I worked at U-Haul part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great if you need part-time hours with full time pay.

    Cons

Saturday hours are long during the busy season, and when it is the slow season the hours slow down but not so much that you dont make decent pay. Not many cons! They are really a great company to work for.

I have been working at U-Haul full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits, good vacation time and good HR that will listen to your issues. Employees are encouraged to move from one dept to another to improve on skills and help the company get better as well as the employee.

    Cons

Depending on the Department, you complaints can go on deaf ears and completely disregarded.

    Advice to Management

Managers should find new ways to empower their employees not demean them. Complaints should be taken seriously and not disregarded in fear that the boat will rock.

    I worked at U-Haul full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is a community and a lot of encouragement from the upper management. You do get the feeling that you are valued.

    Cons

A lot of how the job goes is dependent on your direct supervisor. My position had two superiors to report to, one great to work with, the other... Not so good.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you can to make people feel welcomed. Perhaps consider making the Computer Support Specialist a single MCO position, instead of covering two markets.

    Pros

If you excel at your position, you are not "over managed"
    Benefits are great.
Work is not hard but there are a lot of plates to keep in the air.

    Cons

    Full Time Hours are salaried.
High Stress on management, especially at the end of the month.
Upward mobility can be quick, but so can turnover.
