I worked at U.S. Bank part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get a free Platinum account, Great hours, and the ability to keep learning through their specialized training program

    Cons

Some locations are in areas that attract a lot of homeless people

    Advice to Management

Branch managers should take the time to really develop relationships with their team. The first and only faces most people see are those on the teller line. Make sure they are helped when dealing with difficult customers. Also be understanding when they make counting errors at the end of the night. Some branch managers are very impatience when it comes to closing time.

    Cons

I wasn't told during any of the hiring process that during down time as a teller I was required to make cold sales calls.

I have been working at U.S. Bank part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Thorough training
    Decent pay
Willing to work with school schedule (if you have the right manager!)
Incentive pay for all levels of employees
Great support systems for all employees

    Cons

    Incentives not worthwhile
Corporate management is poor and does not understand what it is like to work at the branch level (unrealistic request from upper management)
    Extremely short staffed branches

    Advice to Management

Staff your branches after a former employee leaves, don't just leave the spot open because it is all the sudden "unneeded". Quit cutting incentives, this will make good employees either not work nearly as hard or even leave.

    Pros

Great job for getting your foot into the door of a financial institute and are wanting to work your way up.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Allow peak time employees to not have to always work Saturdays. I have a family and I can’t make family plans with my husband and son for the weekends.

    Pros

Fast paced, easy to learn, management was very supportive, great team dynamic

    Cons

Hated pushing sales, marketing credit cards or home loans and car loans as a teller its hard to do when we dont know all the aspects of the process.

    Advice to Management

Let tellers focus on just everyday transactions and simply get permission to suggest appropriate departments to reach out to them if there is interest in credit cards or loans
