I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The benefits as well as the pay are good.

    Cons

It's obvious that the company is losing its strength by the systematic dismissal of seasoned employees. People who know what is going to occur are suddenly quitting and those positions are not being filled. Knowing there are problems afoot customer service managers are dismissing long term higher paid employees for reasons that in the past were not issues and had not been addressed in the past even with great reviews. There is little opportunities to advance as they continue to downsize. Entire departments have been eliminated as they continue to lose market share.

    Advice to Management

Stand by seasoned employees who care about what they do and maybe they can right the sinking ship.

I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

First couple of years helped my growth professionally and enjoyed meeting different people from across the company.

    Cons

New management was brought in and they had caused a complete change in culture across the district.

    Advice to Management

People like to work hard for leadership who creates a healthy work environment. During the last year and half of my time with US Cellular our leadership created a very unhealthy work environment which caused a lot of people across multiple stores to stop working hard for the company. Just like any job if you get stuck with bosses who are just trying to figure things out on the fly it makes your job a lot more difficult.

    I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time

    Pros

Great place to work, nice people.

    Cons

The way customers are treated. They are terrible at dealing with changes. US Cellular used to be a great company but they're not as focused on customer satisfaction. They've taken away belief points, they changed their billing system and left tons of people with huge bills.

    Advice to Management

None. It's not management's fault. It's corporate. Wonder if they can keep an owner?

    I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time

    Pros

    Salary was good and benefits

    Cons

Department and manager- no life work balance

    Advice to Management

Conference calls at 2 am should not be ok unless you have stores abroad or with a huge time difference. My boss made them mandatory as she did a lot of her catch up in the middle of the night. No life/work balance.

I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive commission structure with no cap.
Amazing colleagues who become like family.
The chance to get your hands on new tech as it becomes available.
    Rarely the same day twice.

    Cons

When you have managers who believe in the DO things are great. You get to bring fresh ideas to the table, make decisions to help your customers, and raise concerns in a safe environment.

Once your manager is run out by the new regime, everything you enjoyed becomes a distant memory. Empowerment becomes micro managing, ethics disappear, and you become regularly beat down over even the smallest of mistakes or opinions.

The new direction of the company puts the customer and the almighty dollar in front of literally everything else. They've forgotten to take care of the people who serve their customers on a daily basis. I'm now simply a customer, and I am more appreciated and valued than I was as an employee.

    Advice to Management

Domt forget that your front line is the face of your company. Take care of your RWCs and Sales Leaders so they are motivated to serve your customers at the highest standard.

    Pros

    The employees and the customers

    Cons

Commission is always changing for the worse, when they eliminate a position, they add it to the sales reps list of things to do...basically doing the job of 4 people and still getting the same pay
