I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team atmosphere, very supportive BASM's. Young and very collaborative in nature. Major freedom.

    Cons

Major freedom, means that you need to know the services in order to do your job. They will not babysit you.

    Advice to Management

Provide a better on boarding program that helps executives learn how to do their jobs better.

I worked at U.S. Cellular as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

•Amazing culture with heart-warming people who support you and help you with whatever you need, both on the job and out of the job
•A lot of opportunities to learn about test engineering with a plethora of aspects: from software testing to field testing of the devices
•A lot of opportunities to learn about telecom. industry, as well as telecom. technologies (including new ones)
    •Flexible work-day and a strong work-life balance
•Great internship program with [good] planned activities and networking events
•Good benefits (gym, tuition reimbursement, 401K, etc) if you work there full-time

    Cons

•No paid sick leave (or PTO overall) for interns (understandable, but would be nice)
•The day-to-day job can get dull sometimes
•There should be more training opportunities for both interns and FT staff pertaining to technical innovations or the software that they use on daily basis

I have been working at U.S. Cellular full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work/life balance, great corporate culture, family business feel, customer first attitude, great salary and benefits

    Cons

I do not see many cons at the corporate level. I was at the retail level before and a lot of work needs to be done there to keep the DO alive, but at the corporate level it's alive and kicking.

    Advice to Management

Allow the DO to trickle down into the retail channel. Keep treating your employees well and stay focused on the customer.

I have been working at U.S. Cellular full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits and a great culture. The tuition reimbursement program is a benefit too many people ignore. I've earned my bachelor and masters degrees while working here.

    Cons

Some jobs which could be done remotely, require relocating to Chicago.

I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Constant training, supplied with excellent test tools, more training.... good work week. Now that fiber has replaced copper T1's the over-time hours have slowed down. Not too many new cell site builds. Management remarkably intelligent. Inclusive environment. Excellent benefits.

    Cons

Lay off in 2013!!! And no hope of rehire! I worked for seven years.... best job I ever had.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for replacing the female (no offense, just pointing out) CEO who knew nothing about cellular and was the catalyst for a major loss of revenue. Thank god she's gone! But how about rehire of your Network Field Engineers, the backbone of the network.
