I have been working at U.S. Cellular full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

they give benefits, they still have retained some good employees,

    Cons

culture was the backbone and now being torn down by greed. inflated sales goals leading to unethical sales maneuvers and corporate protocols acknowledge these tactics in order to save customers, firing people for low standards meanwhile supporting resources crash, freeze, and can keep customers in stores for hours. use to strive to be different from the giants with identical ambitions Verizon, At&t and now trying to copy this type of culture. its sad if you hold people hostage on good benefits.

    Advice to Management

fire the right people. hold accountability where it counts such as horrible resources and stop celebrating poor behaviors for stock prices in the end your heading towards another Wells Fargo scandal.

I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Many good front line people who care for customers

    Cons

Their "inverted pyramid" support is only for those people that are favorites.

    Advice to Management

Actually listen to and develop sales people who want to move to other areas. Cursory attention is obvious and demoralizing.

I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay and commissions if you are willing to work hard to meet and beat monthly sales goals.

    Cons

Promotions are constantly changing and can be confusing
Management wants you to focus on too many things at once on top of your sales duties (Sales trackers, SalesNow, filling out montly sales sheets for managers, referral programs.. there are so many).

    Advice to Management

Focus on one to two things instead of throwing out all these sorts of expectations for your reps to fill out and stay on top of. It will be more effective, less time consuming and keep moral up.

Good pay, tuition reimbursement, bonuses, shift bids, advancement opp.

    Cons

Be careful with QA calls. Made 1 mistake, unfortunately the day a new Zero Policy came out. I was the example it was not going to be tolerated. Verify all yours calls. After 6 years I was fired for 1 call. My fault.

I worked at U.S. Cellular full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Small company, potential opportunities to learn many different aspects.
Benefits are on par if not better than most big corporations.
Front line has some really good, honest and passionate people.

    Cons

No life balance. 12 hour days are a typical occurrence. Management does not see an issue with that and of opinion everyone should be working extra hours.
Upper management is extremely unprofessional at times. Backstabbing and unprofessional behavior by managers is easy to come by. Everyone likes to dog everyone else thinking their own waste doesn't produce odor.
Entire company has a cult-like mentality around their Dynamic Organization mantra "values". Which are just a bunch of common sense items everyone should be doing anyway in their daily professional life. But be careful saying anything of that sort out loud. Feels like you are in Cuba or North Korea at times.
Within IS everyone would like to say they breathe and bleed the values but the only time the D.O. values are employed is against someone when complaining to a manager when they simply don't like something instead of using the D.O. framework to work with a colleague on resolving the issues.
Employees that have been with the company for a long time think they are the top dog, in reality they would never survive in any other corporation.
Business is slow to react to the market changes. Missing items a 5 year old would have foreseen and then pressure IS to deliver in days something that took a competitor months to deliver. No one in IS has any decent conversations with Business towards achieving common goal. IS always ends up jumping through hoops at a moment notice to grant every wish, else things are escalated to the very top.
Company is strapped for cash yet lets 3rd party vendors take advantage of it left and right.

I have been working at U.S. Cellular full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not many. I enjoyed some of the relationships I was able to form with my team. That is, the ones that wouldn't stab me in the back.

    Cons

The Tulsa area is run like a dictatorship. No autonomy in decision making whatsoever. You will be placed on corrective action for the smallest, minute things that have no bearing on performance results. The Tulsa area is consistently failing, morale is at an all-time low, people are constantly leaving, and it can all be traced back to area leadership.

    Advice to Management

You've made your stand, now sell the company to Verizon.
